Assalamu alaikum,

Ok I just want to admit that part four was a bit confusing for me. For the personal possessive (my) I get it, but the rest confused me a bit.

For example, would it be sayyaratuka or sayyaratak? (same for the feminine - sayyaratuki or sayyaratik??)

Is it baytuhaa or baytihaa?

Is is kalbuki or kalbik? (and for masculine - kalbuka or kalbak?)

Is is zawjatuka or zawjatak?

Is it matbakhuhu or matbakhah?

And is it malaabisuki or malaabisik?

Maybe I'm completely off...I dunno. I hope you understood my questions (and my confusion).

Jazzak Allah khair.

wa alaykum salaam

hmm I think the problem is that u are getting confused with what you hear and see ppl saying / writing and what is the correct grammatical way.

according to grammar, the last letter of the word carries one of the vowels according to the position of the word in the sentence. That means that when you are adding the possesive ending you can't touch or change that vowel because it has already been set. So you just have 2 add the ending on... which would come out like this :

hadhihi sayyaratuhu
hadhihi sayyatatuka
etc etc

because if you put sayyaratak then you hav put fatha on the last letter for no valid grammatical reason (although in speech yes people say it, its fine for that but don't write it that way!! and for these lessons its best 2 stick with fusha)

you see when you don't mess with the final vowel when adding the pronoun then it can keep it's space for the case ending so you could have...

hadha kitaabuhu
wajdatu kitaabahu
hadha fi kitaabihi

is it clear? or not?

Yes. :D Jazzak Allah khair.

I think the confusion was coming from how I've heard people speak Arabic.

Phew! Now I'm not so freaked out (once again :p).
