Salamu Alakum my peoples
Ok so I made this super bad choice today of actually sitting down and watching daytime t.v. Why was it such a crap choice? B/c I was absolutely traumatized by what I saw/heard. I'm not one for soaps so I decided I would tune into the lesser evil or talk shows, no I don't mean the ' Who's my baby's daddy' Maury but something I thought would have some quality personally: Oprah and Dr. Phil.
The show was about kids who are like 14,15,16,17 and who are basically alcoholics and/or addicted to drugs. They were speaking with some little 15 girl who was addicted to COUGH MEDICATION. It really makes you think about the state of our society when kids are doing ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to get out of their existence. Why is this? I really do believe it is b/c they don't have Allah(swt) in their lives, I mean yea Muslim kids do stupid things like mingle with the same sex and hell ya we should nip that in the bud but the sheer fact that they even believe in Allah and know their are consequences to their actions gives me hope. Anyways our society's messed up, this poor kid walahii, the parents..man I felt so bad for them :(
Questions relating to this: IS our society really as messed as t..v. portrays it? Are kids these days all really crackheads or drunks? What about the future of this ummah?
Right after Dr. Phil Oprah came on. Now I usually like Oprah's shows( minus the tom cruise like ones or the random singing ones) and apparently this episode was going to be "shocking" "eye-opening" and such so I was like meh I have nothing else to do in the next hour might as well see what's so inquiring.
I think it was an old episode b/c the dates didn't add up but it was on this topic called 'Brother's on the Downlow:" YA ALLAH . I swear to you b4 Oprah I had never heard of this 'stuff' It was so disgusting and disturbing and sad. Basically talking about married men( focused on black men mostly b/c it was increasing in the black American community) who slept with other men on the side DID NOT consider themselves gay though  and transmitted AIDS to their partners.
I don't want to seem cruel but when they said they contracted AIDS b/c of this I was happy. I mean Allah(swt) always punishes wrong doers right? However, it was sad that these poor women who were unsuspecting of this also were harmed.
Anyways it got me thinking, aren't we as muslim women so freakin lucky. I mean no wonder we can only marry Muslim men! I would never expect this to occur from Muslim men but imagine being married to a non-Muslim, anything would be possible. I'm not saying every non-muslim guy who is 'straight' is on the d.l. but it gives reassurance. Muslim women sometimes complain about some things not being 'fair' in islam such as the whole a guy can marry a non-muslim women but a girl can't. InshAllah this really proved to me that we should all remember Allah knows what's best for us and we should not complain.
Anyways my rant, your thoughts on the issues appreciated, should make for a good discussion if anyone is interested if not meh.
