Marriage is a wonderful thing, tis beautiful
Half of one's faith and the amount of compassion, love and understanding spouses have for each other is truly amazing
But i've started to really come across terrible marriages. Seriosuly they are terrible in the sense people do not follow Islam anymore. They marry for looks and when the spuse turns ugly, so does the marriage.
More and more men are leaving their wives and having affairs, and this includes Muslim men Astaghfirullah.
Some marry from 'back home' thinking they're doing a big favour by invitiing them here and let them go on the path of self corruption by not providing them support and letting them be influenced by the 'wrong crowd'
Seriously when will people wake up? Love is a beautiful thing but i don't like it when people confuse lust with love, and getting married is not an 'in' thing where people only get married cuz everyone else is always talking about marriage and love and so they follow the trend.
To be honest finding a good spouse is very hard esp in this Dunya IMHO.
But do people even bother to look or just tend to pick the first available person?
Every one talks about being in love, but hardly do i see many of these marrying the person they 'love' before they move on to the next victim err i mean person..

Walakumslaam
we already have several threads on this issue in the Marriage section of the forum.
What I think Sis IG is trying to say is that constant discussion on "love" and "marriage" not only may feed the wrong idea's but also cheapens the sanctity of the whole concept.
This is done through joking about marriages, by "declaring" your love for someone etc.
We don't need such drivel. This is an Islamic forum.

I think if we are going to discuss marriage or related issues they have to be objective.
I think if we are going to discuss marriage or related issues they have to be objective.
Yes. Objectivity is key for issues such as marriage.
Also, to observe some hayah!

And it is brother.
Objective of this thread: cold reminder not everything is a bed of roses esp not love.
How many people have come to me saying they're in love they're getting married only to find some one diff the next week
One topic: both sides.

Quite right, just that we have several threads where we talked about this issue of love and marriage. I now feel we are just going round and round in circles.
Well, Akhi, this thread is just to be a reminder not to go about "declaring" such mush (even referring to the married couples here. These things are best left off the board, Insh'Allah).

I agree, people are going over board with it and its setting a wrong trend.

That's marriage!
We go round in circles trying to find out what it is, until the circular noose of nagging spouses is round our neck..ok that's a bit extreme.
I'm not saying marriage isn't lovely but there are so many young people on this forum and others who read the love threads and start posting their own views abt love which is far fetched, i've had it on MSN for days now and it's getting annoying :freedom:
:salams
I couldn't agree with you more on this IG.
Members have a responsibility to ensure that the more younger crowd does not get the wrong message.
I can't emphasise that enough.

First the love
Then the love lyrics
Pretty soon they'll be listening to britney junk, whatever next?
The Bollywood version of love?
:freedom: :ahb:
:salams
Love for parents, for the Ummah, for Allah (swt), for Prophet Muhammed (saws) and so forth is obviously encouraged...and most often is clearly stated.
The love for the opposite sex, be it even your spouse, on the board is a bit much and goes against the basic principles of modesty and hayah.
~Bump~ For those who are wondering whats "wrong" with IG and myself.
Reminders:
There's a time and place for everything.
Discussions running along the above topics are often used out of context, as though talking about love for someone (other than your family, Ummah, Allah (swt) and Prophet (saws) ) is somehow acceptable. It is not acceptable.

Although I wish I knew what bollywood was?? I wish I knew where everyone came up with their Ideas to speak in forums.Marriage is a sacred thing between a husband and his wife. And should not be Thrown out there for all the world to see on the internet. If you have a problem at home that is fine.but,Find a friend, use Instant Message's.Talk about the real reason we are here.Talk about Islam,Insallah.
If things are wrong with this world it is because we let things slide just remember that.Believe in Yourself and Allah Guiding you are your Loved one's on the right path. And hope that Trust in Allah will show you and your loved one the right way.
My main reason for comming here was to learn or read more about Islam.I see not one thread in this whole forum that is not arguing about something. It is sad to think a New Mulslim or a Non Muslim thinking of converting would come here and read on this forum.I think as brothers and sisters we should all try to do better about our way of language and speaking here.It would be much better don't you think?
The reason I came here was to find links to Said Nursi and the Qur'an.I want to learn to read the Qur'an in Arabic. Can you believe I have not seen anything in here on teaching?
May Allah Bless us for our actions and our real reasons here.Meryem

Assalam Alaykum sister
Ummah forum is a discussion forum where Musilms and non-musilms alike come and discuss issues ranging frmo current affairs to social issues from an islamic point of view.
We do have 'Learn about Islam' section which we are working to change very soon inshaAllah to have islamic lessons and q&a about islam.
It is impossbile that a forum like Ummah which has over 8000 members, that it will somehow create an atmosphere where everyone agrees.

well, for the one who is a novice and want to learn islam and quran in arabic etc. you are coming very hard on everyone here. let me point to you something that muslims believe in:
quran 6:125
And whomsoever Allah wills to guide, He opens his breast to Islam, and whomsoever He wills to send astray, He makes his breast closed and constricted, as if he is climbing up to the sky. Thus Allah puts the wrath on those who believe not.
i hope this will clear up things for you. also you could have searched the net through yahoo or google search and might have found many wesbites and organizations that would be a help. looking in your city or calling your islamic center or islamic society might have also helped. however, when you call, be patient, because most places don't have staff or hired employees, they are rather run by volunteers who have life too like jobs, businesses, families etc.
