The Pearl
A single drop of rain fell from a<O:p</O:p
cloud in the sky<O:p</O:p
But was filled with shame when it<O:p</O:p
saw the sea so wide.<O:p</O:p
‘Next to the sea then, who am I?<O:p</O:p
If the sea exists, then how can I?<O:p</O:p
While looking down on itself<O:p</O:p
With the eyes of contempt,<O:p</O:p
An oyster in its shell,<O:p</O:p
Took it in for nourishment.<O:p</O:p
And so it was, that its fate was<O:p</O:p
sealed by this event,<O:p</O:p
And it became a famous pearl to<O:p</O:p
adore a king’s head.<O:p</O:p
Having descended to the depths,<O:p</O:p
It was now exalted to the heights.<O:p</O:p
On the portal of non-existence it<O:p</O:p
went knocking,<O:p</O:p
Until it finally was transformed<O:p</O:p
into being.
