British Muslims, American Muslims: Empowerment, Engagement, Enrichment
A one-day conference organised by the Fulbright Commission in partnership with the City Circle.
Time: 11am - 6.30pm
Date: Saturday 25 June 2005
Venue: New Hunt’s House, Lecture Theatre 2, Great Maze Pond, King’s College London (Guy’s Campus).
The conference will compare the challenges and share the experiences of American and British Muslims. By bringing together leading professionals, lobbyists and policy-makers from both sides of the Atlantic, the conference will explore practical issues and solutions for greater empowerment and engagement of Muslims in both countries.
Speakers include: Lord Goldsmith QC, the Attorney General; Nihad Awad, Director, Council on American Islamic Relations; Carol Madison Graham, Executive Director, The US-UK Fulbright Commission; Baroness Kishwer; Lord Bhatia; Anas Al Shaikh-Ali, Association of Muslim Social Scientists; Mohamed Aziz, Commission for Racial Equality; Dr Haifaa Khalafallah, Director, Center for Islamic Mediterranean Studies; Mansoor Ijaz, Crescent Partnerships, US.
