Salam well i dont know about USA, but i read this AL Jumah magainsine, and they have advertisements for arabic classes, including these "open university" type courses, but i dont see anything that affordable. America being such a big country... it can be hard at times to find a suitable place in ur locality specifically for arabic.
Although iam sure if one finds a good masjid, they have their own arabic courses running.
Make dwa , perhaps use www.islamicfinder.org to find a masjid in ur locaity that might teach arabic
they run this course every year. Its a good one.

From what I understand there is a course at the London Muslim Centre, which is next door to East London mosque that hold a beginner Arabic course which runs for six months, once a week. I think the cost of the course is something like £110 pounds. I plan to enrol on the next available course, insha-allah.

we are opening a free beginners arabic course on Ummah when the forum is relaunched. You have to do it online in the Arabic forum but insha allah we are trying to make it as easy to use as possible, and if you dont have any classes near by to your area or affordable, this may be useful for you insha Allah :)

Sorry for the late reply but I completely forgot about this thread. Anyway, I will find out this information for you, and I will insha-allah PM you if it is at all possible for someone as young as that to attend the class.

I almost forgot again…lol
Anyway, I spoke with a brother this evening at East London mosque and he gave me a number that might be worth calling, which is 020 7650 3000 and ask for Imam Abu Hussain Khan, he basically organises classes for children...I think anyway. Either way, if you are unable to call him, I will call him first thing tomorrow anyway and investigate this further for you.

Anyone heard of the Medina Islam university Arabic course???! ( its world famous) , a three part book series . beginners , intermediate then advanced. good concise books
Well you can download the AUDIO ( not official i think) lessons from this site
This site covers the Madina Arabic books 1 & 2. Lesson by lesson and page for page. Lessons are in audio format.........
*** http://www.matari.com/Arabic_Lessons/ ***
I dont know the link for Book 3. But i recommend those audios, as i have found them to be very benefcial for self teaching. Although there is nothing better then having an offical teacher with regular lessons as well as going abroad to perfect ones understanding of the arabic language.
You should get the books in paperback format really. But you can download them here:
Learning Arabic PDF book list (http://www.fatwa-online.com/downloads/dow002/index.htm)
May Allah increase in knowledge and the ability to learn. Amen.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think putting the Imam's name and number on the web isn't a great idea ? What if the poor guy gets calls from nutjobs ? Does he accept collect calls ?

Don’t worry the number is not his personal number, it is the number to the London Muslim Centre?

Asalaamu-alaikum Muslim Girl,
I have found out the details you require, they are as follows:
Next enrolment date is early August, so I suggest you enquire for an application form on the 1st of August.
Unfortunately, they only allow 7-8 year olds to start the course. The course is 6 years long. Classes are every weekday from 5-7pm. There is an admission cost of £10 and a weekly charge of £5 only.
If you have any further enquiries contact East London Mosque on the following number, 0207 650 3000 and ask for Imam Abul Hussain Khan.
