The irony of the situation in Ilford South is that Mike Gapes, MP considered by some the most Islamophobic MP in Britain has a 15,000 majority with a 15,000 Muslim voter block who predominantly vote him in.
This really is a case of "fact being stranger then fiction". I would test the most imaginative and creative minds to make that up. They couldn't and if they did they wouldn't have Gapes crowing about it on his website saying that Muslim activists tried unseating him at the last general election only for more Muslims than ever to vote for him!
Mike Gapes has made a distinguished career while having a laugh at the expense of Muslims. He called Muslim activists, extremist. Then without irony he signed an EDM condemning Ken Livingstone for likening a Jewish Reporter to a concentration camp guard! The logic he has is, it's okay for him to stigmatise Muslims as extremists, but appalling and unacceptable if an over bearing Jewish reporter ( Oliver Finegold ) should be told to "naff off!"
Well we put the question to his Muslim constituents; "When was the last time Mike Gapes defended Muslims against any Islamophobic MP, media event or civil servant?" and surprisingly 9 out of 10 said "he attacked Hazel Blears, the minister for Islamic hate propagation! For saying Muslims should expect to be rounded up and harassed!"
Then we asked "Who will you vote for in the General Election?" and they on the whole the Liberal democrats in Ilford have a strong candidate who seems to represent and understand our views!"
.that unfortunately is fiction, firstly he wouldn't defend the rights of Muslims, and secondly the Muslims of Ilford don't even know who he is! That is despite over three thousand phone calls MPACUK have made, that is despite tens of thousands of leaflets we have dropped, thousands of emails and hundreds of articles. The Muslims of Ilford don't know they have directly elected one of the men who are planning to bomb Iran and Syria, to ensure Israel's regional dominance. Some didn't know that there was a general election imminent. Muslims like drugged cockroaches allow their so called leaders to sell us down the river.
The only way we can beat Mike Gapes is if Muslims who know Muslims in Ilford start their friendly neighbourhood phone campaign, if they phone their friends and family, if they make sure they vote and they make sure they vote him out. If the Muslims of Ilford demand the Mosques take a pro active approach to getting rid of him, and teaching the Ummah the power and necessity (Fard) of voting. Once the political bloodletting has happened and the election is over, Muslims need to join all three major parties to ensure that our views on Palestine are respected and heard.
Allah Almighty will not change the state of the Ummah until we change it ourselves and this includes making the hard choices to ensure our voice is heard. That means we get rid of those who misrepresent us in Parliament and those who protect them in our constituency. But Muslims being proactive and taking charge of their own affairs really is fiction!
