(this is my first thread :) )

this goes to the reverts....did any of you ever compose music before you were a muslim?..and if you did, do you still hum the melodies that you made?

i forone was a very good piano player, and i do find myself humming my melodies

POSATIVE responces please, and nothing about how music is or harram or anyhtign liek that..WE know ti al ready, so don't bring it up!

lol...okthe main gold of this thread is to find out people opnions about music, without stateing what IS or ISN'T halal or harram

i for one don't agree with soem fo the thinsg that are harram and halal, but it is not for me to decide, i have orders, and i have to follow them..without question, and these orders are to follow what is halal and forget what si harram

i perosnaly don't think music is evil at all...it's is mearly ment for the herefater..and nto for this world, other wise, why would it be a reward in the hereafter if it was evil?

i believe there are things in this world, that are good, but humans were nto meant to have, so Allah made them harram

kinda like if your children want to eat candy and icecream before they eat dinner, you tell them no, they can't have it untill after they eat dinner

(i am in no way claimeing that we are chidlren of god either...jsut wanted to make that clear..the above example was jsut that..an example)

i think i have brought this line up before

"dinner is the dunyia, and desert is jannah, if we don't eat all our dinner, we get no desert."

music, amoung other things, is the desert, that we will get AFTER we finish this dinner

of course, you can disobey your mother and eat desert first....but we know what mother does to your behind after that..and we don't want that..so we eat dinner first

(i don't think anyhtign i jsut said will make sence to anyone :P )

the fact that our wives will be singing to us..to the sound of music..i don't know the verse right now..but it's there

Also i heard (and don't go shooting the hearsayer :p ) that there will be alcohol in the next life also. and that is most definitely haram right?

Well if we can, I hope it's a lot better than the non-alcoholic stuff I've tried coz that is yick!

i can't wait to be in jannah...i really do think i will make it, and when i do..alhamdulilah, i will want to take a long nap...becasue once i leave this world..i will definatly need soem rest..whew!

Nope dont have any talent in music and cant remember when I last hummed any melodies.
Tho I do listen to it daily, esp to classical ones.

Well if we can, I hope it's a lot better than the non-alcoholic stuff I've tried coz that is yick!

Yeah, totally agree, most non-alchoholic things taste like mop water.

sura waaqi3a... it says there will be wine, but with none of the ill effects of wine from the dunya :)

but anyway.... personally i am not sure there is any benefit of discussing which music you used to play and compose b4 u were muslim. If you accept the view that we are not supposed to compose such music, then is this not a form of exposing ur sin then?? we would not have a thread "which night club did you used to go in before you were muslim?" or "how many girlfriends did you used to have b4 u accepted islam" so I think we should be careful in these matters insha allah & allah knows best (no offense 2 anyone this is jst my advice 4 u)

Yes. Much of his "spiritual growth" took place during the time we spent studying Islam.

ok... music... i really want to know... there are so many types of music... and i know there are some really bad music out there (not that i have heard them)... now i know only drums are permissible... what about ballads?

There are alcoholic beverages in Heaven -not like these kinds in this life- ..

a river of honey a river of water a river of Laban (kinda like milk) a river of alcohol ..

there all in Heaven

as for the NON-alcoholic beverages there not bad I get'em once in a while.. lol

In canada I had music class we sang songs + they taught us how to play flutes.. lol
I dont remeber the songs.. ummm somethings like "the yellow submarine.. goin somethin like: we all live in a yellow submarine a yellow ..."
