:salams
I was just reading another thread in the General forum about bro Makki. I didn't know that we have so many converted muslims (:sub: ) on this forum. Therefore, I was wondering how many converted muslims we have here. That's why I've set up this thread with a poll. I hope your inputs will help us all to know and understand each other a liitle better :)
Also, if possible, please state what exactly made you turn into islam or if you have any specific turning points.
Thank you everyone !
:wswrwb:
P.S. Please don't abuse the last option of the poll for fun. I had to put it there just to be fair to everyone. Thank you.

I'm a kaffir, goy, unsaved heathen (the catholic version).
Do Hindus, Buddists, Shintoists, Anglicans or any other faith have a word for the "not thems"? If so I'll add those in.

born again evangelical missionary christian, kinda one of the ones muslims talk about.
As I understand it from the view presented in this forum by some of our Muslim friends our missionary chums dangle bowls of food in front of starving muslims and then toss them to the ground and stamp on them laughing hysterically if they don't all subscribe to the Pat Robertson Fan Club (Line dancing for the Lord meet at 7:30pm Wednesdays, Dress code informal although minimum weight of 15 stone is in force).
Is that about the strength of it, or is that view not entirely fact based?

Hi..
I'm a Christian, but I have great respect for Islam and Judaism. I am learning lots about my faith by reading about yours.
I spend a lot of time talking to Muslims, reverted Muslims, Jews, Messianic Jews, Christians who were Muslims and I wouldn't want it any other way.
We can learn heaps from each other even when we don't necessarily agree with each other.
I love reading here, even though I don't post much. I read and learn and try and listen and when I do post, it's in the hope that others might learn from my faith too.
oops i converted to Islam... But I AM MUSLIM so thats what i chose!!!

I also want to take the opportunity to appreciate the courage of our converted/reverted brothers and sisters. I assume if I were born in a non-muslim family, I'm not sure that I would have the knowledge or courage to do such thing.
So, well done !

Why is there an exclamation mark after the no religion option, but not after the others? Is the one who made this question partial in some way?

Well said! This is exactly it! :insha: I will understand more as time rolls on as I am only a mere student,. However,my medical problem even seems to be fading away and strength returning. Just how these non-believers can keep slagging on without faith, I do not know. Conversion is a fantastic process; there is only one way:salams .

OH MASHA'ALLAH!!! ukhtee u revert and u learnt the arabic language and everything wow u going strong...then again it depends on how long u're a revert. That is so cool though!
As for me, well i grew up in a western muslim home, so that means not practicing and not wearing hijaab. But get this....one point in time i was a competitive swimmer so it was it like allll out there and now fully hijaabed up!!! Islam is really the way of life, dunno how I cld have been blind all that time but then again Qadr of Allah and Allah SubhanAllah has really opened up my heart to Islam... Allahu Akbar!!

HEY! i've been practicing 5 years well this year will be 5. Errmmm during my swimming years my brother use to keep bugging me about Islam. And then my conscience started playing on me...began reading the Qur'aan and then it finally hit me, that its a command of Allah swt to guard themselves. Boy oh boy...i still remember the day i told my parents i wanted to start wearing the hijaab. My mom didnt cook for a week!!!
But Alhamdulilah she grew to accept it eventually, now i just have to work on her accepting niqaab. Im not wearing it yet but i have alot of friends who do and i really admire them. I even tried it a couple of times and its sooooo private. So inshaAllah i have to work on that inshaAllah :)

Christiana,
Muslims believe we are all muslims at birth .. but circumstances cause many of us to follow other religions. a revert is someone who changes back to being a Muslim .
we would call them converts, but the muslim term is revert

Well I was raised a Baptist, But had always questioned the bible and christianity. Especially when you go back to the dark ages and the "christian crusades". I always knew Christians had a very violent and brutal history. One day a brother added me in hi5, i admit i used to ignore any kind of arabic or islamic names. but for some reason I was curious about what Islam was really about. He cleared up the very common misconceptions of Islam. Refferred me to some islamic sites, read about Muhammeds (pbuh) life well most of it (note to self go back and finish reading that) and read some of the quran online. It made sense like all the missing pieces of the puzzle came togather. Then I decided to convert to Islam. Hubby converted soon after. Now I embrace Islam so much!! I love Islam and my sisters and brothers. mashallah!!!! :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: I love Islam!!!!!

Peace be with you Maureen,
It's always a pleasure speaking with you :D
God guides us all if we want to be guided.
We are on different paths but all heading the same way.
I always said that too. But, when I came to seriously considering Islam I found this from the Quran:
2:62 VERILY, those who have attained to faith [in this divine writ], as well as those who follow the Jewish faith, and the Christians, and the Sabians Asad(2,49)-all who believe in God and the Last Day and do righteous deeds-shall have their just reward with their Sustainer; and no fear need they have, and neither shall they grieve.Asad(2,50)
So, I realized yes we are all heading the same way...so why not take the BEST route? Just like in a car, if you are heading somewhere special you want detailed directions to give you the easiest most direct access right?
So, I realized Islam was the perfected straight way.
GOD bless you
SisterKhadija
