View Full Version : Two or Three Eids in Toronto

There are always two Eids on consecutive days and sometimes three Eids in Toronto. Some follow Saudi Arabia's Eid announcement, some follow moon sighting, and some follow calender. The Muslim ask each other when was their Eid ! This is unacceptable and we should all have one Eid day. The Imam of the local Masjid looks at his watch to determine Salat time but he wants confirmation for Crescent sighting for Eid and Ramadan. If we follow our watch for Salat times then we can also follow Astronomically established calender for Ramadan and other months. There is always conflict on Eid and Ramadan days and we have people living in same apartment building starting Ramadan on different day and celeberating Eid on different days. This is quite comical for non-Muslims and they laugh at our misfortune. Can we all agree on one set of rule to determine our calender ?

Only the Khalifah could properly end this argument! This is one reason for the need to have a Khalif so our conscious and our deeds are protected.
Remember, the Imam shields the ummah according to a hadith on the matter of having an Imam(leader).

The Muslim calender should be prepared using astronomical data and all Muslims should follow it around the world. We all will have Eid on same day and we can also plan our holidays and trips around it. Now we don't know which day Eid will fall on and it is difficult to get a day off from work. We cannot leave all our decisions for Khalifa. Allah has given us brains and we can make decisions which are not in conflict with Qu'ran.
This has been discussed in this forum recently. Do a search and hopefully you'll get some more information on it.
How can you have any kind of organisation of a collective body of people without a leader? The Messenger of Allah said if more than two people are on a journey togethor then they MUST appoint a leader from amongst themselves.

MUST ??? Do you mean if I go somewhere with two of my friends, we'll HAVE TO appoint a leader ?????
