Assalámu `alaykum wa rahmatulláhi wa barakátuhu .
I pray that you are under the shade of Allah's mercy, in the circle of his
generosity and in the remembrance of his habib sallallahu alayhi wasallam insha'Allah,
We would like to invite you to the following:
Islamic Circles Presents:
THE UNSMILING HIJABIS & THE HOLIER THAN THOU BROTHERS
by Shayka Umm Zakariyah & Mawlana Abu Bakr
Date: Sunday 12th December 2004
Time: 11am - 1pm
Veune: The Froud Centre, Romford Road (on the corner with 1 Toronto Avenue),
Manor Park, London E12 5JF
By the Grace of Allah (swt), the Ummah has begun to wake up and
signs of revival can be seen everywhere. Many Muslims are turning
back to their faith but many are still feeling put off. Why is this?
Is it because those who claim to be practicing Islam have adopted a
holier than thou attitude and outlook? Do you feel uncomfortable,
intimidated or even inferior in their presence?
When was the last time you saw a friendly and cheerful hijab wearing
sister? Or perhaps too much hair was visible and you were not "pure"
or "pious" enough to be able to join their cliquey group of fake CK
wearing hijabis, and hence, were unworthy of their sisterhood and
salaam? Maybe you don't have a fist length beard and don't wear a
thawb along with Nike trainers and all the expensive clothing items
from JD Sports? Perhaps you are not someone who spends hours texting,
emailing or MSN chatting to their potential hijabi lover behind a PC
screen, yet insists on speaking to her from behind a barrier when it
comes to Islamic Society matters or if there is a prominent 'aalim
or daa'ii whom they respect nearby?
How shallow have some of us become? Have we forgotten one of the
basic articles of our faith which we obsessively preach to others,
that Allah is the one who will judge all of us?!
Please join our discussion if you feel this way or disagree. We
look forward to hearing your views at what promises to be an
interesting and informative session.
