Over the course of my life, I have heard of or witnessed several racist or discriminatory acts by Muslims against Muslims.
I am aware that there are many Muslims who complain about the citizens of the Arab Gulf countries, specifically, as being arrogant and racist.
However, I have run into a truck-load of Muslims of other nationalities who were discriminatory in their behaviour towards me, even though I did nothing to them. By now, I highly suspect that there is a problem from the other side as well.
For example, a friend of mine once ordered food for delivery, and the delivery man was Iraqi. Once she picked up her order, he hurled all kinds of insults at her about him waiting in the cold and being hard working, and her being a rich and spoiled Gulf girl who doesn't open the door quick enough (it took her about 2 minutes to open).
I had an experience with a Jordanian delivery man who said I'm arrogant and wanted to throw coins at me because I wanted to pay him in coins and he wanted notes, but I explained that I didn't have notes with me at the time.
In London, an Egyptian shopkeeper wanted to charge a friend of mine 20 pounds sterling for a packet of orange juice, and when he was asked why it's so expensive. He said you're from the Gulf, your fathers are rich, I know you can afford it, and he gave a look of scorn.
On a Pakistani military forum, I was told that Arab Gulf people are nothing but camel riders and they don't know how to work themselves, they only employ others to do the job for them.
These are only recent examples I can come up with from the top of my mind. There may even be hundreds more that I can recall. Although there may be a little bit of truth in some of the things they say, most of it is complete rubbish.
Can someone explain this rift for me and elaborate on it?
