900 seconds = 15 minutes, is that the time between posts?
A new cookie being generated with each post?

900 seconds is the time u are inactive u dont do something within this time then you are automatically logged out..

Semantic sad.

Sajid, indepth posts take over 900 seconds sometimes, why did you change it to that?

900 seconds is the time u are inactive u dont do something within this time then you are automatically logged out..It might be set to 90 seconds then !
I mean, I know sometimes it takes me awhile to write a post but, never would it take 15 minutes :)

Could we agree on 1800 seconds, my bathroom is a bit down the hall :)

Me too since today..

I normally never need to log in, as my login is always set to "Remember me", but today every time I go to Ummah.com I have to log in, even if I check "Remember me".

its 900 seconds, 15 minutes idle on the forum that makes you log off

Sister NoorAlHuda has contacted me and said she is not able to log in at all. Everytime she does, it says "Logging you in" but then go back to the log in page. I must admit this was happening to me yesterday at some point too.

since a lot of us may be working and posting on ummah.com between other tasks, could i request that 15 minutes be increased?

is there no way people could set their own limits, so taht those who log on from shared computers etc. would keep these minutes low, but those who are not could keep them high?

regards.

I've resorted to typing my posts into MS Word before I will post them. That way ... I won't lose my post if it takes longer than 15 minutes to write.

I'm not sure of the reason why only a 15 minute time-out has been placed on the cookies, unless it's to conserve bandwidth, which would make sense from a webmasters point of view.

At least I won't be forgetting my password anytime soon.

Sajid nothing has changed. I am told to sign in everytime I come to the site. It has nothing to do with the time out, it is when the site has been left. Or another page of the site has been opened. I am still having the problem only when I come to the site though. What hack did you put on that caused this. The one that allows us to now see the new post. I see no other changes besides that one. If that was it get rid of it and then lets try again. Are you telling me you are not having this problem?

I think it's Ok for me now.

And OMG, I got moved at the office today.. being a temp with no proper place that happens.. anyways.. and I discovered to my horror that most of the office does not have a connection to the internet! They took access away  My first seat was one of the only places that did.

As a result I nearly fell asleep three times today. I just couldn't keep my eyes open, it was so difficult. Thank god I picked up a metro for the first time in ages today, or I would've died of boredom.
