What is Tawhid?

Tawhid means oneness of Allah (SWT). It is the main part of Iman (Faith) and is beautifully expressed in Suratul- Ikhlas in the Quran, the English translation for that Surah means:

“Declare, He is one God, Allah. The Eternal, the Absolute. None is born of Him, nor is he born. And there is nothing comparable to Him.”

The beliefs of Tawhid have a big effect in our lives:

¯A believer in Tawhid surrenders himself completely to the will of Allah (SWT) , and becomes His true servant and subject.

¯When a person surrenders himself to Allah (SWT) command, he gains control over all other creations in the universe.

¯It produces in the believer a high degree of self-respect; he depends on Allah (SWT) for the fulfilment of his needs.

¯It makes a believer contented. He does not become worried because he knows Allah (SWT) will take care of all his needs if he is obedient.

¯It produces in the believer a strong determination, patience and perseverance. The believer becomes single-minded and dedicates himself in trying to seek Allah (SWT) pleasure.

¯A believer in Tawhid feels self-conscious if he does something wrong.

The Fundamentals of Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism)
