What is Islam?
“Islam” is an Arabic word that means surrender and peace. The full definition implies that when you surrender your will to God, you will find peace in your soul. A Muslim then, is a person who surrenders to God and finds peace.
The name Islamimplies the following concept:
By surrendering one’s fickle and weak will to Allah, one can let go of all their fears and earthly temptations so that they can finally have peace in their soul.
There are even main beliefs, five main practices, and three main duties. The seven beliefs of Islam are listed in what is known as the Imam al Muffassil, or, “ The Beliefs Listed in Detail.” The seven beliefs are to believe in:

2) His Angels,
3) His Books,
4) His Messengers,
5) The last day,
6) Measurement, both the good and the bad are from Allah,
7) And life after death.
The five main practices are simply the five main pillars.
They are:
1) Declaring there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad Rasulallah is the Messenger of Allah,
2) Establishing prayer,
3) Fasting in the month of Ramadan,
4) Charity,
5) Making a pilgrimage to the House (the Ka’ bah in Mecca)
The three duties are extra things which Muslims do based on the commandments of Allah in the Quran. They are:
