By what process of reasoning does one arrive at the conclusion that the Koran is the word of God?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the links, abulhakeem. But not really what I was looking for. My fault. Let me rephrase the question:
By what process of reasoning did YOU arrive at the conclusion that the Koran was the word of God?
Thanks.

Reasoning is the wrong word........ you just read it and **KNOW** I believed in revelation from Allah before I became Muslim, and recognised other texts as having some divine origin, though it is evident that these other texts had been interfered with by humans, leaving a mixture of divine revelation, human error, human corruption, and in some cases outright fabrication.
What made me first suspect that the Qur'an was the unadulterated word of Allah was when I learned that the Qur'an's rules for things relating to the community and economy were what I believed in (having spent the last five years campaiging for a just economic system) and in addition to this, it solved a number of problems that your average lefty would debate about for hours - e.g. where usury ends and equitable trade begins. Further reading lead me to see that there is a great deal more in there...... a whole way of life, which unlike the bible, lacked any statements that were factually incorrect, rules that had no purpose, rules that existed to keep some people in power and the rest stamped down; it's message is simple - there is no God but Allah, Muhammad (saw) is Allah's messenger, the most important things are belief in Allah, the last day and his angels; regular prayer and regular charity. (the five pillars of Islam relate directly to each of these) The Qur'an is a guide for the righteous, so we may be helped along the straight path. The rules in Islam are to keep us on the straight path, and the reason behind these rules is self evident in most cases, and can be understood in other cases if you do a little research.
As to believing that this revelation from Allah had not been interfered with, that was a question of reason, because I had to go and find out how the Qur'an came to be written down (Muhammad (saw) himself was illiterate) and how the people who wrote it down ensured that they recorded the words of Muhammad (saw) and not their own words, and that they did not make mistakes in their transcription. I cross checked this with a number of accounts, and was satisfied that the Qur'an had survived intact, alhamdulillah!

Beautifully said, sister.

Thanks. The Qur'an is a miracle in itself, and it is the only book on earth that captures the experience of God as a Way of Life. During the time of the Prophet Muhammad saws, many were converted to Islam upon instantly hearing an ayat (verse) or two, often saying something as, "That speech can only be of God!" or along the lines.
Another thing about the Qur'an is that even the verse that pertains to the daily routine of a Muslim is enough to make the heart soft with the Light of God, where other writs are considered a 'scripture' or 'reference' in the reading of it, as opposed to reciting the Qur'an as a way to remember and worship the One God.
Finally, it is easier to remember an ayat in the Holy Qur'an in its Arabic origin, as opposed to non-Arabic languages, English, et cet era.

When you gain an understanding of Arabic and listen to the Word of Allah swt recited (the Holy Qur'an) you will certainly know its origin and its miracle.

Why did you believe in revelation from Allah before you became a Muslim? How did you recognise other texts as having some divine origin? Was it because some of them contained opinions similar to your own (therefore they had to be divinely inspired)?
