she put a disk in it and the metal part got stuck... so how can we get it out?! she tried 2 do it with a nail file but it didnt work
anyone got ne advise how 2 fix it??? cos we havent told ma dad get either... best if we can just sort it b4 he ever has 2 know, or we're gonna b in trouble lol :nervous:
REmove the PC Cover
And Take out the Floppy Disk Drive and its easier to do it from that
use a pair of tweezers or something
if u us ea nail file u may damage the Floppy drive
but take it out completely.
or if ur lucky use a tweezer and try it without having to take it off...
tweezers are ur best bet ;)

depending on ur computer there should be 2 side with screws going down them. unscrew the side farthest away from the motherboard(where everything is pluged in). then push open the side of the computer.
unplug the cables attached to the floppy, u might need to unscrew the drive from a tray as well, so remember all things u do to take it out.
then get the tweasers out and have fun getting metal out:p
heres a guide to putting it back in if u get it out

Or just kick it accidently and it will fall off.
That is how I discovered how to remove the floppy drive. :D

Don't worry..in my experience, the cables can only be connected one way...the right way.
Each has a unique shape and only fits in the socket with the same shape.
Watch what you do as you unplug them and then just reverse the process when you're through with the tweezers.

cudnt do it last night with ma parents around!! cos they dont know we broke it yet!!!
alternatively.. take the metal sheilding off on of ur parents disks and put the disk inside the drive... when they try to take the disk out (and see that it's their disk) they'll prolly think it's their fault :p

so what do you do? plug it into the usb port of ur computer, then just save the stuff onto it, and plug it into the usb port of ur other computer and take the stuff off again??
actually thats quite cool... what if u wanted to print stuff off from ur college or uni computer, can u use it on those aswell? cos usually ppl r just using floppy disks?

yeh its like an external hard drive, when u put it into the usb port, a drive pops up next to the C drive, it wil be usually be named E or F drive. u can print off it and do anything you would on ur normal harddive.

maybe I will invest in one :D
but if u want some serious external usb memory then look no further than the SONY GIGAVAULT (http://www.morecomputers.co.uk/extra.asp?pn=PHM80-USB&referer=dealtime)
80GB of memory on a small usb disk for just £ 245.07
