Cos my computer had been messing up a lot, i got my brother to delete the whole system and put it on again from scratch. I thought i had backed up all the files, but when the new system was put on and all the files were added back on, one of the folders was missing. It appears it didn't get saved and it had to be the folder which contained my work :crying:

is there any way i can recover my work or is dat asking for a miracle?

There are some programs that can recover your work. The important thing is not to create too many new files, which could over write your old work. All that happens when u delete a file is that the pointer that tells the computer where the file is, is deleted, not the file it's self. So u can recover the file, but the more data that is written to the drive, increases the possibility that the file or folder will be overwritten.

I don't think it matters, if you format or delete. Either way it does not over write the data. Only remove the link to it.

If you have XP/NT or 2000 you can still recover the data. If your still interested look at something like filescavenger.

Shouldn't mess anything up. I've used it before, you select a drive, click a button and its scan the disk, finds any files, and says if you can recover them.

If it doesn't find the files you want looks like they might have been overwritten.

iam afraide to say that once you delete files from your hard disk there is no way to recover data from it. The best thing to do is to pray Allah to have your data back.

It is, in theory, possible to retrieve data even after formatting, as Andalus said. There should be no risk in trying out the recovery software, it's not going to destroy anything.
