View Full Version : Perfect holiday

Just for fun, let's see if we can come up for a blace that would be nice to visit on holiday (vacation)--a place where everyone of every culture, religion, ethnicity, gender, etc. would be happy with.

My original thought was the beach, but, honestly, I'd want to soak up some rays. I'm not quite sure if that would count because of some people's desire for modesty.

What are your thoughts? Where is a great place for a holiday that everyone can agree on?

How about the cooler parts of Sri Lanka? Kandy? Nuwareliya?

I think I could have titled this thread a bit better. I should have said something like "Universal Holiday" instead.

I'm sure Mecca or Medina would be a great visit, especially for Muslims. I'm not just quite so sure that I'd be welcome there.

How about the Grand Canyone in US, Angel Falls in South America, The Great Wall in China?

Grand Canyon is good....hope to move to AZ soon.........

But what about Disney theme parks. When I was there I noticed about every nationality and Mickey Mouse is universal....

Raven,
I dont think they allow non-Muslims at Mecca.

How about Gettysburg, PA? That place is pretty cool. Or how about the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, truely beautiful.

I was a teenager at the time and as a safety percaution they urged you to sing, whistle, or bang a pan if you went to the restroom or whatever at night.

My family is orginally from Wyoming, my great grandparents sent my grandma and great aunt back east because they didn't want them to marry cowboys!!!!!!

You really think Mecca and Medina have beaches?

You sir are even worse than that dog kage87Z that we had here.

Islamophe is what you are.

It is to my eternal regret that the weak admins of this board are extremely reluctant to take action against those who would try to mock our religious places.

The summer is a bit too hot, isn't it? I must say that I do agree with Caliph sometimes. There are no honest questions in your post, and your post was clearly intended to provoke. And it's not the first time you've done this. We do allow non-Muslims to post here, but remember that it's a Muslim forum. That means you need to respect Islam if you want to be here.

Insha-Allah I will talk to the admins regarding taking a tougher stance on people who act like trolls in this forum.

Meanwhile, I am looking for people who are willing to take on the role of moderator. I may have to leave this forum in about 2 weeks time. If you want to be a moderator, please PM me.

Surely these are holy cities, but if somebody claims they are the most beautiful cities in the world, that claim should be justified.
What makes them so beautiful? There must be something to see!

Does a holy place make a place so beautiful. Hardly.

No offence to anybody!

As both cities are in land there are no beaches but the night life is fabulous ... the cities don't sleep ... and the places to be are the Masjid ul Haram in Mecca and the Prophet's mosque in Medina. What makes them beautiful is their history, the amazing vibes and the fact that you find these boundless amounts of energy whilst there despite lack of sleep. It does get a little hot in the summer but what's a little heat when your in the most fabulous surroundings ... a little piece of heaven on earth!

Unfortunately non-muslims are not allowed ... They are sacred muslim sites ... in peak season they recieve upto 3 million visitors in one go ... so it's limited to the people who would gain most from a trip there.

Obviously my saying " Mecca and Medina .... the most beautiful cities in the world!" is a personal opinion. One fuelled by my beliefs. When I was there I felt a peace that I have felt no where else. I haven't experienced a lot of travel but I've been to a few countries and subhanAllah, the only places my heart yearns for is Mecca and Medina.

Allahu Akbar!

Maybe I'm a little biased but I think Australia is the best spot on the planet for a great holiday. It's relatively safe, tolerant, clean, healthy, and the scenery in many parts is stunning. Friendly people, plenty to do and see, and not very expensive for foreign visitors (except for the long flights to get here). I think this country meets all of Raven's criteria!

My sincere thanks for your replies, Inayah. I've been to Jerusalem, looked at the busy life outside the Mosque, and I wonder a bit that the area was not closed unlike the two other holy places you mentioned.

Well, it's been 18 years since my visit and the situation might be different now.

You are most welcome, Outsider! Are you referring to Al-Aqsa? The area may not be closed due to the fact that the area, i.e. Jerusalem is not under Muslim control but I'm not sure that it needs to be closed to non-muslims ... most mosques aren't ... just the two most sacred ones.

A good friend of mine is on holiday there right now. I think I'll have to make the journey, some day. I'll just have to remember to bring my diving gear. I hear you have some good diving down there (smirk)!

Where I live, Perth, the diving isn't wonderful. It's not bad, but water is a little cool and frankly not that interesting. Further north, a lot better. I'm very spoiled from several years diving the Red Sea when I worked in Jeddah. After that, anything - including the Great Barrier Reef - is an anti-climax. Nothing beats the Red Sea. I've gone into fishing here now whenever I get the chance. They almost jump into the boat in Australia.

We took a break and did some trout fishing a couple months ago on some rivers near Pemberton to the south and then went on to Albany, an awesomely beautiful coastal town with some of the most spectacular coastline I've ever seen. Caught a few there too in King George Sound. Off to Shark Bay up north in August to catch some Spanish Mackeral and Tuna. Last time there it- was very easy.

Anyway, hope your friend had a good holiday here. It's hard for me to tear myself away from here and think about a holiday anywhere else. :)

Al Aqsa mosque is open area for all people even before the Israeli ocupation.

According to Mecca and Madina , I do not know what is the reason that non muslims not allowed to visit them.
