I am new to this forum and had decided to do so for a very important issue, which is Shirk. I am not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this but i really need some help, so here goes.

I am a 20 year old and have been a Muslim all my life but recently i have been having some problems which are causing me great distress. The problem is that i have these thoughts and in these thoughts i often say that someone else is Allah. These thoughts are not intentional under any circumstances and i do not accept or believe these thoughts say. However as much as i try i cannot get them to stop.

To give you an exampple i always keep saying there is no god but Allah, but when it comes to saying Allah someone i place something or someone else in the place where Allah should be.

You may be considering that i am mad or its a joke, but this is no joke i promise you. Have i committed Shirk? Have i commited the only thing that Allah does not forgive?

I love Islam and don't want to go to Hell. I do believe there is not God but Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (S.W.A) is his messenger and the first thing i always pray for is Forgiveness and for Allah to guide me to the path of Deen.

So if anyone has any advice it would be appraciated tremedously. And as i have said this is no Joke. So if you can help me in any way your help would be greatly greatly appeciated.

A very very concerned Muslim

who is this allah in your thoughts, a creator cannot be encapsulated by any of your faculties, therefore the brief rule of thumb, anything your senses see is not him, so have a belief of him greater than your senses and you will see that it is not easy to commit shirk. that is why he is the ever generous and ever forgiving.
and yes he does forgive shirk, ask all the kuffars of Mekka, for what were they before they embraced islam

In these thoughts it can be anything or anyone, not neccessarily one person or thing. I definately agree with what you have said haideriam and believe that there is No God but ALLAH, and i am also of the firmist beleif that nothing can and will be anywhere close to the creator.

As for your advice or rule of thumb i also concur that anything that can be seen or felt or anything within the sensory madolities cannot be Allah and therefore it be impossible for them to be Allah.

I continually ask for forgiveness and will continue to do so as i do beleive there is no God but Allah and the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is his messenger.

Thankyou for your advice

Aslaam u Alaikum brother UsmanB,

I read your post and well I don't know whether your committing shirk or not, but you aren't doing it intentionally thus the conclusion comes to my mind that it's the shaitaan playing with your mind, recite the shahadah whenever you have these thoughts and insha-allah all will be better!
It's the same case as mine, cos whenever I am praying I have thoughts coming from all sides, and when I am not praying I am fine, so I know it's the shaitaan attacking me but I just concentrate even harder and recite loud! We've got to defeat the shaitaan our biggest enemy!

Waslaam.

Muslim Youth what you described what happens to you when praying is the same thing that happens to me also. Whenever i try to think of Allah the worst thoughts come into my head, but i persevere and continue on with reading Ayat or thinking of Allah.
I can only hope and Pray that Allah forgives me and everyone else as i know that hell doesn't sound good at all.

Assalam u alaikum

You know when I was a little kid I used to make chain. Like who created this road men, who created men, Allah then ------------------------.
believe me that got me real headaches. But now I have matured and realised that one should not try to think beyond his or her limits.
My brother, dont try to think too much. Just keep your thoughts in limits.
