As we bid farewell to the blessed month of Ramadan next week, on the
first day of Shawwal - the tenth month in the Muslim calendar - we
celebrate 'Eid Al-Fitr. Fitr literally means breaking of fast. 'Eid
means recurring happiness or festivity.

Alhamdulillah, Eid is celebrated with much enthusiasm and fervour
and Muslims from all strata of life can be seen adorned in beautiful
new clothes, visiting the mosques to attend Eid prayers. Greetings
of "Eid Mubarak" or "Blessed Eid" are exchanged along with customary
embraces and hugs.

Unfortunately as the gates of Hell re-open, immediately these Eid
celebrations take a new twist with our Muslim youth. Eid raves are
organised, street parties and joy riding in hired cars or limos down
'Green Street, Coverntry Road or Wilmslow Road' are a must, together
with the usual 500 cops in riot vans just waiting for something to
happen. Celebrating Eid sadly gives the green light to intermingle
and flirt with the opposite with sex and intoxicate oneself with
all sorts of vices. In this buzz of excitement and chaos, Muslims
find themselves in trouble with the law, their neighbours as well
as their families as lives are lost because of joy riding and
abusive behaviour. Is this what celebrating Eid is all about?
If not, then how should we celebrate Eid?

Why do these youth still do this despite many years of warning and
advice. Is this the way Muslims should act? Where does such stupid
behaviour emanate from? What can YOU practically do to stop these
people? Will sitting down and moaning about how bad they are going
to change anything?

Are you a revert who feels lonely and abandoned by many so called
'practising muslims' busy with their own cliquey 'Eid' celebrations?
So much for brotherhood and sisterhood in Islam!

Join us this Sunday, where we hope the true message of Eid will
be disemminated, insha'Allah. Attendees are requested to bring
their friends and families as well as potential Muslim "Yobbo" or
"Yobbess". We are serious here - this is not a joke or an attempt
at frivolity.

Reverts are most welcome.
