... was a very versatile dish called "Mahtupa" (Please forgive the spelling...)
It came in at least two varieties, a meat and vegetable type and one with some kind of fruit compote.
It reminds ne of a Calzone pizza kind of thing. Any recipies?

i've never heard of this dish, maybe it's the spelling, or maybe in the countries i visited it was called something else. Have you found a recipe for it yet? I have many in english and arabic, and I know a few people who may be able to give me one, but first, can you describe more about what's in it so I can try to locate it for you?

It is called in Palestine: Maqluba (turned over)
In Jordan there are similarer dish called: Kabsi (pressed)
