What!!? You are waaaayyy off. He was born in 1938....
What's even more amazing is that was only half of what he recited. After that part we stopped for Isha and then he continued reciting for a similar length of time. Second part was even better...
is He South African?
Nope. Misriy.

oops told you im not good with ages :smack:......Wow Subhan'allah that is amazing
If there are moments that I feel like a total doofus this is one of them.
Do you have a recording of the second reading by any chance? The longer the recitation the better it is with of the these Qari's.
I remember Jumuah in Al Aqsa, before Jumuah Khutabh the Qari there recited the exact same verses of the ending of Surah Furqan, and that was truly beautiful, but I have no idea who he was....
I would loved to have been able to listen to Qari Basit live, now that would have been incredible indeed....
.....I would love to be able to go somewhere and brush up on my Qur'an....by thats just seems totally impossible at the moment
Im assuming you've studied tajweed, did you use the arabic books? Ive been studying some stuff again, but i dont know what im doing wrong....
