[53.18] Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.
[53.19] Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza,
[53.20] And Manat, the third, the last?
[53.21] What! for you the males and for Him the females!
[53.22] This indeed is an unjust division!

Could someone explain to me exactly what is being said in these Surahs?

It was popular among the polytheists to attribute portions of something (food? livestock?) for their gods and refuse those portions for use or consumption. Since it was a part of polytheism, and it prohibited the use/consumption of that which God never forbade, it was spoken against in the Qur'an. The names of those goddesses were mentioned as among the gods and goddesses for whom this practise was made, I think.

The pagans of Mecca used to believe that al-Lat, al-Uzza, and Manat were daughters of Allah. Allah here is telling them that the belief is not true in the least bit.

53.23] They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord.

Allah never said Lat, Uzza, and Manat didn't exist.

Hello Believer,
Allah never said Lat, Uzza, and Manat didn't exist.
I ask you to re-read the first line, i.e. They are naught but names which you have named...

I hope that makes it clearer to you.
