salaam

Just wondering how much arabic everyone knows. I've been learning it at school on sundays for about 3 yrs and taught myself a little bit before that. Insha allah I'm going to do my GCSE next yr. I thought about doing it this yr but I didn't think I would get a good grade yet....
I would really like to get fluent in it :D insha allah

SubhanAllah!

Well i've been reading Quran for a few years now (i'm a revert). But only been working at truly understanding it for a few months... and on a daily basis for the past couple of weeks. Glad to have you join us, mashaa Allah.
It's been a bit lonely in here. Please share what you have learned...

Salaam sis

Well, I have been learning arabic ever since I was a kid, but, I have only really studied it as a language (speaking, comprehending) for about 5 years now. Sad to say though, I am not as good and fluent in it as I should be:o .

I was taught at home & I used to attend a sunday school as well :) , ever since I was about 6 yrs old. Unfortunately though, I don't go anymore. I try to speak it at home as much as possible, though I often get lazy & speak english when I really should not :banghead:

You could better say:

Ana muslimah jideedah min britanya. Lam atakallam lughat'alarabiyah. [next 2 lines are okay about your paki husband ;) ]

Ana salah fi Arabia <--------- Hmmm.. what are you trying to say there?

Next:
Lam adhab ila madrasa.Qadi la madroos <---- hmmm??? At'taalam araby fee baytee.

The rest looks good. :) Btw, what book did you read in the forum?? ----> Qirat al kitaab wa qirat al bareed fi Ummah forum

Note: When you start off a sentence saying, "I do not" you say, "Lam" rather than "la." The reason is because when you start off saying "la," that means, "Do not" (a command) and not "I do not."

I guess I'd be laffed outta Saudi Arabia huh?

Thanks that was really helpful. I knew it was far from correct, I just wanted to have a go at putting some words together. I was trying to say posts on the forum :o Anna you got exactly what I was trying to say  hehe All except the last part. I was saying "I try to write arabic but find it difficult."
Actually that's not true, writing arabic is easy, having it make sense is the hard part

Nah sis, you wouldn't be laughed at. I understood most of what you said, didn't I? You'd be fine if you spoke to them there. Plus, there's lots of indo/paks in the shops so your husband might be able to communicate with them. :) Also, another prb is that the way saudis talk, ya can't really understand them. Atleast I can't, lol. It's not like they talk true arabic all the time... they've got a different dialect, just like how egyptians have a dialect, syrians have one, and so on. Take care. Fee amanillah.
