A new leaf...

You cover me and protect me

But my head hangs down in shame

Of your high league beloved Ummah;

Regard me not in the same

Piety I promised to uphold for you

But instead, I lived in torment

Oh Allah in remorse these tears I spill,

And most sincerely do I repent

My Ummah I refuse to keep lying to you

And to benefit from your respect

Call me not your cherished sister,

After the poison I cared to inject

Countless faults with sickening speed

Had misconstrued my heart

Now to share in your unparalleled name,

I surely deserve no part

Not a gold sunrise or sunset passes on

Without a thought of you

All the glory of Allah’s creation

Reminisce continuously of us two

My Ummah how I miss the purpose

That you spur into my deeds

And how my heart-strings strum in praise

As my little brother reads

Among untold errors I turned my dress

Into an ugly deceptive black

What beauty did my khimaar veil then?

except the veracity that I lacked.

But note my beloved deen Islam;

That departure is headed back to you

Our lord Allah is present still

When mercy is called to get through

My Ummah I ask you to pray for me

As you have walked me through the sand

Please let the one set of footprints be

Because I'm protected in your hand

Only honesty can expand our mind

To an open and vast degree

So I wish to prosper and to aid you Ummah

Until we may roam, in pious liberty

Great poem, Sister; I like poems with layers of meaning - and this did it for me, :masha:.

May Allah SWT grant us His far abundant Mercy.

Wa 'alaykumus salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu wa Ramadhaan kareem...
Jazaakillahu khairan for your comment ya ukhtil azeezah. May Allah :Swt: make it easy for us to stay upon siraatal mustaqeem, Ameen. I takes a fierce amount of resilience to own up to ones faults and to admit that we are filled with insecurities. I have realised that it is not that we have been asked to be flawless but that we are always honest in our striving. As a Muslimah, I refuse to lie to my 'Ummah and gain respect under false pretenses. Indeed, I am of the repentors. May Allah forgive us all and help us to overcome our faults with sincerity always, Ameen.

Wa iyyaki. And Aameen.

That is it exactly! Sometimes we get so wrapped up in trying to be perfect and realise that it is not perfection that is asked of us, but rather to earnestly strive to be better. For, if perfection was asked of us, we would all fail; regardless of whether that is from the moment of birth or from the moment of acceptance of the Truth.

No one is encouraging that one should therefore take the words above as a means of acting how they are doing so and justifying it, but rather that people realise that they cannot be perfect and they should not let their insecurities be the ruin of them.

Furthermore, no one is saying that one must go around revealing their sins, but realise that their intentions maybe against their deeds; their thoughts maybe against their deeds - and so in fact, the irony is that though they maybe performing an act of Ibadah, in actuality, they may be sinning. With this realisation, one should try to correct themselves, and also realise that though it may not be intended, they are getting treated better on account of their "apparent" piety - which is an insult to the true Believers... They should earn their position, but not for that reason. As the Islamic saying goes, one should not put all their efforts into preaching Deen through mouth, but showing what the Deen is through their mannerisms and general behaviour through their lives; one should try to be a full time Da'ee in this respect. However, you wrapped the two topics up well, when you made sure to mention that no one can be perfect, that is not what is asked of you in this Deen. Just try...

Aameen wa thumma Aameen; to you last Du'a.

May Allah SWT grant us sincerity in out every action; our every breath.

It was nice discussing this with you, Sister; :jkk:.

Fee Amaanillah,
Your Sister in Islam.
