Last Minute
By Safiya
I use to think of you as a rose amongst the weed,
How daft I was to assume your rainbow
Would form without a decree.
I thought you perfect;
Thought you a blessing especially for me,
I was seeing miracles
Where never did a rain fall upon me
I had succumbed to your allure,
And it wasn’t hard convincing others either;
I fell for you
Thinking this was a clichéd match made in Heaven,
Despite my lack of belief,
Without realising that I actually deserved someone better
Why is it that we compromise?
It is my life that I am entrusting to you.
This isn’t a small matter,
My soul;
My eternity, is yours after this,
Oh you, who are to be my beloved.
Don't assume, thanks. It's just a hypothetical situation; which you would understand, if you understood the poem.
