I ignored the Mercy in His rains
Always hiding under an umbrella
Dry and desolate was my soul
Not a drop or tear did it hold
Darkness was stained on my heart
Through sunder and overexposure
Persistent in the things that fold over
My cries will forever go unheard
For my soul has weltered them harshly
I feel neither pain nor love
Chronic confusion has never stopped
I have given away my prayers
Retailed blessings and patience
And let this Life take absolute control
It was but a joy ride
With demons eroding my insides
Surprised suddenly only with my demise
I collide!
At this moment of mine, I realize
All my laughs and breaths are of old
All that now remains are burdens and woes
All that I chased was gone
Now I can truly feel the pain
Truly fear His Reign
An explosion of remorse
But it is too late
What!
Yes, it is much too late!
Angel of Death has encased my soul
In clothes of rot and smell
Illness a stench you cannot repel
More repugnant than my decaying corpse
Repulsive even to my calloused heart
He furiously tore it out with his all
Now I can truly feel the pain
Fear is now running rampant
Cannot try to imagine what is to come
My indulgence was only for mere moments
Torment now, is my only adornment.
May Allah protect us from the torment of the grave, Ameen.
“Know ye (all), that the life of this world is but play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting and multiplying, (in rivalry) among yourselves, riches and children. Here is a similitude: How rain and the growth which it brings forth, delight (the hearts of) the tillers; soon it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then it becomes dry and crumbles away. But in the Hereafter is a Penalty severe (for the devotees of wrong). And Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the devotees of Allah). And what is the life of this world, but goods and chattels of deception?” 57:20
