Assalamu'alaikum sisters and brothers,
i was in suh a mood today, becuase i got stopped and searched. it was sooooo embarrassing :-( anyway its funny now, when i think about it.
thought id make a poll to see how many people have been stopped.
:wswrwb: stopped and searched for what  i thought they had to have reasonable grounds of suspicion to do that
I almost got stopped and searched once for loitering in JFK in 2005 (in the part where you walk down to the plane after showing them my boarding pass etc.):smack:...I was waiting for my friends to check in :o but the security guard let me go once he realised what I was doing

i thought that as well, i got the stupid slip infront of me. and it says:
"there are also powers to stop and search vehicles and their occupants (44(1)) and pedestrians (44(2)) in an area, if a senior police office authorises it, to prevent acts of terrorism.
For these three powers, the officer does not have to have reasonable grounds to suspect the individual stopped or searched of carying dangerous...... blah blah blah"
but i was sooooooooooooooooooo p****d off!!
Fairly normal...most people at some point have been, even non-Muslims. I've been stopped in a car once, they were doing a mass stop and search on a major road. The majority of people stopped there were just ordinary folk...
They can do it without reasonable suspicion, as a 'visibility' thing. I remember the officer who stopped me was really nice about it, took about a minute and said it was completely random and to raise 'police visibility' in the area.

says there though "if a senior police office authorises it" so seems to indicate that this officer has to authorise each stop an search of the person, so are these pre planned checks on certain ppl. cos otherwise this "senior officer" would have to be on the street authorising each check, if theyre just "random" checks according to that.

In London (at least) they can authorise a mini-checkpost on the road which only lasts a couple of hours, and then they're authorised to stop any car that goes through without suspicion...
I guess the same happens with people too

You live in London, stabbing capital of the UK. The police are just trying to deter violent crime. Better to be searched than stabbed.
saw an armed stop today...was scary (and funny), looked like it was gang/drug related stuff
