INTENSIVE COURSE ON BASIC MANDARIN & CHINESE HISTORY (C London)
Dates: Monday 14th July - Sunday 20th July 2008
Time: 9.00 am - 6.00 pm
Venue: Birkbeck College, University of London, 30 Russell Square,

This course aims to cover the 10 week introductory Mandarin Level
1 course in one week. Students will have at least 3-4 hours of
intensive language tuition per day. They will also be taught the
basics of Chinese characters and some essential Chinese characters
for everyday usage. Students will learn about Chinese writing and
techniques to help teach themselves how to write. This includes
a description of the character, stroke order, origin and meaning,
along with examples. Finally, in the late afternoon we go through
Chinese history, culture and civilisation, and learn more about
Islam in China.
The course will be taught by Ibrahim Chao Ma (Peking University),
Professor Ashiyat Wei Hua Ma (Xi'an University), and others. The
deadline for bookings is Wednesday 9th July 2008.
