As-salamu alaykum,
Inshallah we are launching a new course at Ansar in Islamic theology with Br. Shaqur Rehman. It is based on the aqeedah at-tahawiyah. This is excellent opportunity to study the topic. If the brothers/sisters could help to publicise this course, by printing poster and placing in their isoc prayer rooms or local masjids or by posting on the various internet forums, I would be very grateful. Any queries please e-mail ansarsisters@yahoo.co.uk.

Al-Ansar Islamic Education Centre is pleased to announce the following Islamic Theology Course starting on
Friday 18th July 2008.
The classes will take place every Friday at 8:00pm.
There course will run over 7 weeks in total.
The full course is FREE
Who is this course for?
Anyone who would like to learn about orthodox Islamic beliefs. It is suited to those at a beginner and intermediate level in the science.
Who is teaching this course?
Shaqur Rehman has recently completed a PGCE along with an MA in Applied Linguistics with a dissertation on the clash of civilizations, a linguistic perspective – English in the Muslim world. He preceded his secular study with a traditional Islamic education beginning in Egypt in 1999-2001 which he further developed in Syria and Saudi Arabia whilst teaching English in various universities and institutions. During his Islamic learning he managed to memorise the Holy Quran and attain authorisation (Ijaza) in recitation and various Islamic sciences including theology and jurisprudence.
What is Aqeedah At-Tahawiyah?
It is based on the famous book Aqeedah At-Tahawiyah (Aqeedah means Islamic Beliefs).
'Imam Tahawi's al-'Aqeedah, representative of the viewpoint of orthodox Islam, has long been the most widely acclaimed, and indeed indispensable, reference work on Muslim beliefs. This course attempts to avoid mere theoretical rhetoric without relation to the reality we live.
Imam Abu Ja'far Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Salamah bin Salmah bin `Abd al Malik bin Salmah bin Sulaim bin Sulaiman bin Jawab Azdi, popularly known as Imam Tahawi, after his birth-place in Egypt, is among the most outstanding authorities of the Islamic world on Hadith and fiqh (jurisprudence) . He lived 239-321 A.H., an epoch when both the direct and indirect disciples of the four Imams: Imam Abu Hanifah, Imam Malik, Imam Ash-Shafi'i and Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal - were teaching and practicing. This period was the zenith of Hadith and fiqh studies, and Imam Tahawi studied with all the living authorities of the day.
