Well actually.. Music is haram.. because it influences the mind in a negative way.. But his music inspires people of their deen and increases their iman. So i feel that it is a naat.. kawali's have music.. and many naats have music.. They have good influence not bad.. And by the way who are we to judge? Stop judging people only Allah (swt) can judge him.

Music is harram if it leads you away from the good things for example listening to 2pac makes u wanna "bust a cap" so u dont read namaz but in Sami Yusufs case he is prasing Allah so that makes wanna pray salat it made me :D

is it muslims do not care about the admonition of the messenger of Allah?
music is haram
whether you listen to it or not is your concern, but where is it allowed in islam to publicize your sin?

how does listening to music increase your emaan? (is this from the sunnah..? dont recall any hadeeth where the prophet saw advised muslims to listen to music inorder to draw closer to Allah...however on the contrary)
if your so keen on increasing your imaan try listening to something called The Quran.. if this doesnt help your emaan flourish.. then i dont know what will.
stop encouraging people towards haraam by giving such false justifications to make something halal when in actual fact its haraam. dig deep down and ponder .. sincerely.. go through the book of Allah and the life of prophet saw and the righteous followers..then put hand on heart and ask yourself whether music has any place in our lives besides playingi nto the hands of shaitaan. if you want to listen to music then go ahead..atleast do not try to justify your actions using islam.

why are you asking Allah swt to bless him for the haraam he is spreading.. if you wish to make dua for the brother.. ask Allah swt to guide him towards haq..Ameen.
do you even know his veiws regarding the current affairs of the ummah..? he sucks up to the kufaars and belittles muslims in media... he shows more loyalty to the kufaar government than he does to muslims. i know people who never used to listen to music and then started to listen to his 'nasheeds' which led them to listen to music without profanity..and now they openly listen to hip hop and rap.. he opened the door to sin..
just like free mixing in islam is haraam..because it can lead to greater sins such as zinah...we need to close all avenues to this tool!
im in two minds about this kinda thing.. i mean on one hand i can see why people say it makes you wanna daance which is wrong.. but then to be completely honest and open.. when i started prayin salah not that long ago and became more closer to the deen.. i stoped listnin to me geniwine, jagged edge sorta music that i was reaaaaaally into and i started looking for more inspirational kinda music.. i cudnt listen to the nasheeds with no music.. it didnt hit me as much i cudnt feel the words so i turned to things like ladybug mecca, sound of reason, zakki and even though it had a r`n`b kinda feel it wasnt the beat i was lookin for ( like i use to in my previous choice of music).. it was the words, the lyrics that hit home.. i felt them and it made me wanna explore islam even more.. n the stuff like "queen of the land - 3ILM" was the last bit of push i needed to start wearing hijab.. i think because of all this only duff shud be used stuff makes me thinks i should start to give it up.. im considerin it..

though i can understand what you have gone thru, because i believe most muslims have gone down that same path, truth stands clear from error
one example i like to use is, if you were a drinker, and you and another muslim were in a bar, and both were discussing islam, and the next morning, you went to the masjid and you returned to islam, all of that would be a good thing
but
it doesnt make the fact that you and another muslim were in a bar to begin with ok
but Allah, out of His mercy chose your weakness to bring you back to islam, thats a good thing, but hanging out in bars, or listening to music are still wrong, even though there may have been some benefit for you and others
Abumubarak ahh i can see where your coming from.. (bear with me i just read my essay through and it mite get confusin if you lose concentration lol )..
i cant argue your point because its a point i can understand.. i was about to start my next sentence with "but" .. im not goin too.. iv read (im paraphrasing btw...) that the prophet has said singing makes the hypocrisy to grow in the heart like water makes herbs grow?..... but even so.. i mean if the prophet was talkin bout SINGING in this way.. it makes me believe what about nasheeds with no music?.. so then i read that (paraphrasing again!).. acording to a`iesha, a local women got married to an ansari man.. at their wedding the prophet (pbuh)said to a`iesha that she shouda allowed people to sing at the weddin..
and another time (plz feel free to correct me if im rong btw).. where it was eeid and people were singing.. the prophet pbuh had their head under a shawl when Abu Bakr had entered the room.. hearing the singing he raised his voice to the singers but the prophet pbuh had stopped them and said it was ok..
which THEN lead me to believe.. that singing in the ways maybe in terms of what kaffirs sing is wrong because it strays you away from the deen.. but singing in a form of dhikr is permissible..
so then.. THAT cleared up the "singing" part for me.. so i went on to research music in general.. most of what i came across was to do with music AND haram lyrics (which is forbidden of course!).. which then was applied by many to music AND dhikr or about the deen.. and here is where i got confused. one of my friends seem to think that music and dhikr is more WRONG to listen to because its a grave contradiction almost.. and would rather listn to kaffir music.. which puts me in a bit of a pickle lol.. :S
i seem to believe.. music is everywhere from birds singing.. babies crying.. to even your heart beat.. its almost soothing to the soul to hear these.. they dont make me wanna dance the same way music played with nasheeds dont wanna make me dance..
buuut i started to listen to mishary al afasi who recites surahs.. that way im away from singing AND music.. which is  .. a safe option lol..
