All the youngsters should really go straight to sleep after 'Isha insha'allah, your mind and energy should be saved for studies and not wasted.

Scribble the more nights you stay up, the more likely you're sleep pattern will be ruined and you wont be able to go to sleep till 3am and you wont be able to wake up till 2pm in the afternoon. Not healthy

What is this sleep "pattern" you speak of?

Sometimes I think sleep deprivation might account for a lot of the posts around here... mine anyway.:D

I can manage even a couple of hours a night and still be all hyper, in fact I pay a lot more attention to detail than normal.

I don't go to bad that late, maybe a little later than on college nights but I don't have college anymore.

Well a sleep pattern is the amount of hours we sleep and the hour we're usually like to wake up, without an alarm clock. When you have a job or school, even without an alarm, your body manages to wake itself up when your meant to. This is a sleep pattern. Say I sleep on average 7 hours, no matter what time I go to bed, I will sleep for those 7 hours.

I remember only getting sleep for only 4 hours every day continuously for a month because of my uni, it weren't a pretty sight.

I agree with Kal-El, it does mess up your sleeping pattern, as you can't get yourself to bed early and you'll find it hard waking up early for work lets say, and feel so lethargic and pathetic the whole day:smack:

Remember your body has a right over you, don't make a habit of getting to bed late otherwise you will find it hard going to bed early during school/uni time.

It's the circadium rhythm that all humans have. A biological clock that ticks away...

Mine's a lot more messed up than your's though Scibble. I actually tried to fix it, but its impossible. I cant stay awake in the day and I cant sleep at night. Even for school, I sleep at 2:00 AM.
But it's summer for me too, so I sleep an hour after dawn. No need to wake up for fajr!

A sleep cycle means four or five parts of your sleep. For example if you go to sleep at 10 and wake up at 6. So from 10 to 12 is 1 cycle, 12 to 2 is second and then 4 till 6 is your fourth. If you wake up between your cycles like at 7 or 5 then your day will be disturbed. Thats how you feel tired throughout the day sometimes. Thats what my teacher told me long time ago. Dont know how true this theory is.

Nah didn't stay up for that long last night, I fell to sleep after quarter to three. Sleeping late means it doesn't take you hours to nod off! I'm properly awake now. I sleep a lot!

It's quite true. It's because everyone needs a certain amount of time in REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. REM sleep is the fourth stage of sleep and is very deep, characterized by the movement of the eyes. It's also when all of your dreaming in done. Yes, humans dream every night, we just dont remember them. The thing is though the reason the cycle cant be disturbed is 'cause it takes while to actually "fall" into REM sleep. You have to go through the first three stages. Falling through the first three stages faster is why some people dont need as much sleep. They spend longer in REM sleep and thus fulfill their daily need.

That makes sense so we dream everyday yet some people remember them some dont. Thats a good theory.

Oooh ooh, and also, for me anyway, I can remember all my dreams now that I head off to bed after 2am. It's coolness, pretty disturbing since it's usually blood and gore :p but cool all the same.

I know bro. Its bad. My usual office hours are 9am to 5pm. But due to workload I have to stay 'till 9-10pm. Come home at around 10:30....have dinner and catch up on some paperwork for the next day. Sleep around at 12:30 or 1am...wake up at 5:30am or 6am. But I'm used to it. On weekends I sleep like hell. Around 12-14 hrs.....:D

Nope I'm nearly going to be 17 so my mummy turns off the lights now and gave me a lava lamp so that if I get scared I can just turn around and watch the pretty bubble things go up and down.

Although I must admit, the first time I turned it on, it has to warm up and then when it's fluid enough it kind of spits it out and my room shone red, I thought it was the devil... :o :p

I think I'd rather stay at home than go to the Funny Farm, it sounds tempting and all but I'm afraid my father would miss me too much. :D For his sake, I shall stay.
