Salaam, a question directed mainly at girls/women but males can participate if they wish. So what did you wear on your wedding day and how much did it cost to get your lenhga/outfit?
Ive have found that the growing trend with girls is that they go back home to get their outfits, was this the case with you and was timing a big issue?
i think that trend was a couple years back..many have resorted to having dresses made thats in between....something like east meets west? so they have em made to their style rather than choosing one from a collection.

I agree with bint, i dont think it makes any difference, i actually think you can get the same stuff here, besides you'll prob make up the difference in your air fare.
Im not married, but my friend got married a year ago in april, and i helped choose her outfit, it was a lehenga. She liked a sari in the shop, and what they did was they re designed it and adapted the design onto a lehenga, it was beautiful.. it cost her £1800.. the dupatta was every so beautiful!!

Haha.
I wore a grey Sherwani which at one expensive area cost about 25000 rupees and in a low market same suit cost just 5000. My wife wore a lengha. Dont know which one
I wore a boootiful ....wait i aint even married :smack:
But my sis wore a lengha and a sari on the wedding day, still the most gowjess clothes i seen to date!
salamz, since im not very creative i jus went to the boutiques in pakistan and picked out a lengha from there. i really admire those who design their own and stuff. i went to pk for my engagement and also then decided to get the lengha as well otherwise my aunt would have gotten my dress made. but this way, i was able to pick it out myself. it was sleeveless so, i had full sleeves done on it and it was done in a few days cuz we told them to rush it becuz we hadda come back here to usa. it cost bout 70,000 rs...1,000 dollars. much less than it would have cost to buy one from here. and i made Sure i got my moneys worth and wore it twice after my own wedding lol a lot of ppl dont wear their dresses ever again. so tht was tht!

Do people seriously wear their wedding dress to other people's weddings in this day and age? :eek3:

:rotfl: Surely they did
i dunno if other ppl wear their wedding dresses to other weddings, but i surely did. i paid good money for tht dress and i wasnt letting it go to waste. most of friends also re-wore their dresses as well. tht stuff isnt cheap!
I guess it depends. ..if the wedding dress truly IS a wedding dress..big long trail..over done..I doubt it :|

i wore a jilbab and khimar, and i wasnt at my wedding i was with my family having a curry. i left all that stuff to my walli and the men, less cost, hassle and fuss. for me a marriage is about being married not the actual getting married which is over and done with in less than 10 minutes.
walli says do u agree to marry this woman ? he says "yes" walli says "then i marry u to her" khalass its over.

I wore a Sherwani on my wedding day, with a Pagri (turban). Wore a grey Armani suit on the reception. My wife wore a Italian crepe silk Saree on the wedding and a tissue lehenga on the reception. Both of them were very expensive.

Those Clothes are very expensive, So I am gonna wear it at other ppl's wedding rather than my wardrobe wearing it all the time :o
To OP, I wore Lehenga for Mehendi, Chiffon saree for reception and Red silk saree for wedding. I will repeat Lehenga and Chiffon saree at other people's wedding but I will not repeat wedding saree otherwise I will look like a bride :)

I wore two takchita's, which are traditional maroccan dresses for parties. Example: http://www.shop.marokkaansebruiloft.nl/watermark.php?filepath=2/wittezilverenkaftan.jpg&file=2052&size=1
First i wore a white dress, then a purple/black one. I hadn't bought them, I borrowed them from my mother in law. I had a a real simple wedding.
