Salaam, I seem to be stuck, basically I am looking to buy a lengha from a women in scotland and Im based in england. She sent me the designs and I chose the design I like but she said she only has a size 8 available in that particular design which I haven't got a problem with. So I then asked her the exact measurements, everything else was fine such as the blouse, sleeve measurements but when she told me the size of the skirt meaning the lengha Im unsure whether to go for it, now the size she has said is 42,presumbly thats a desi size right so does 42 sound normal for someone of my height im 5ft 3inch

Sis if i were you, i would be very carefull cos desi sized cloths, whatever it is lenga, shalwaar kameez etc always always differ! Basically the designers just make their own size's up! Trust me sis im telling you from experience, when someone means a small, they dont necessarly mean a small, it turns out to be thier version of small which is XL:smack: I suggest that you get the designer to measure the lenga and ask her the exact mesaurements of it! It doesn't matter if its slightly long, you can wear heals, but if its short, than thats when you start stressing:o
Neway inshallah hpe that helps:up:

thats just it though as usually if I am to wear trousers british length size it would be 30/32 length, now i used a measuring tape assuming 42 is in inches and a skirt of that length would start were my stomach line would begin from, judging by that i thought that was a bit too long, so i think i got it wrong, even britsh sizes for tall women don't go upto 42inch

Unfortunately I can't get to scotland and the lady whose supplying the garment needs to know asap if I am going ahead with the order as the particular design I have chosen has accumlated quite alot of interest hence this is the last one left of the design, I thought I would ask here as many sisters would have experienced the same problem when dealing with sizes unusual to us

Salaams sister, I think the size 42 she is referring to is the standard sizes for ready made desi clothes. I just bought some from Birmingham and they were a size 34, and I'm a size 8 normally. I hope that gives you an idea.
