Loosing hope in finding a spouse???
Question: I am now 29, and have been trying to get married for a long time without any success. I am losing hope and even get thoughts of marrying a non-Muslim man but I know this will be disaster for my relationship to Allah.
Answer: We learn from the guidance of the Beloved of Allah to seek the strongest and most effective means available, while placing one's trust in Allah.
Sayyiduna Umar (Allah be pleased with him) said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) say, “If you relied on Allah as He should be relied on, He would provide for you as He provides for birds. They go out hungry in the early morning, and return full in the evening." [Tirmidhi] The scholars note that birds do not merely place their trust in Allah: they go out early, and take all means to fulfill their goal.
Perform the Prayer of Need (Salat al-Haja): make wudu and perform 2 rakats after which you make heart-felt supplication, asking for a suitable spouse.
Be certain that Allah will answer your duas, in the best of ways:
"Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Who provides for you from the sky and the earth, or Who owns hearing and sight; and Who brings forth the living from the dead and bringeth forth the dead from the living; and Who directs the course? They will say: Allah. Then say: Will you not then keep your duty (unto Him) ?" [Qur'an, 10.31]
Muslims are ordained to offer Salat al-Hajah (two voluntary rak`ahs) for fulfilling any kind of need. So, if offering prayer for a personal need that belongs to one person is legitimate, then with greater reason people can gather to offer Salat al-Hajah for a matter that belongs to the whole Ummah. It is reported on the authority of Abu ad-Darda’ that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If any one of you performs the ritual ablution and offers two voluntary rak`ahs consciously, then Almighty Allah will fulfill his/her need either instantly or later.”
[Reported by Ahmad-sahih]
According to a traditional report, transmitted by Abu Hashim al-Ayyili on the authority of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him), the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) once said:
If someone has a seriously pressing need, requiring Allah's help, he should perform the ritual ablution [wudu'] with proper care. He should then perform two cycles of ritual prayer [rak'atain]. In the first cycle he should recite the Opening Sura of the Book [Fatihat al-Kitab] and the Verse of the Throne [Ayat al-Kursi], and in the second cycle, the Opening Sura of the Book [Fatihat al-Kitab] and "Amana 'r-Rasulu... [The Messenger believes...]" to the end of that passage. Then, having pronounced the testimony [tashahhud] and the salutation [taslima], he should make his plea by offering this prayer of supplication [du'a'], for his need will then be satisfied.
Recite the following Dua’a upon completion:

La ilaha illAllahu Halimul Karim. SubhanAllahi Rabbil arshil ‘adheem. Alhamdullilahi rabbil’alameen. As’aluka mujibaati rahmatik. Wa aza’ima magh-firatik. Wal ghanimata min kulli birr. Was salamata min kuuli ithm. La tada’il dhamban ila ghafartah. Wa la hamman ila far-rajtah. Wa la hajaan hiya laka ridan ila qadaytaha Ya arhamar rahimin.
There is no god but Allah, the Ever-Clement, the Most Generous. I celebrate the Glory of Allah, the Lord of the Magnificent Throne. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. I beseech You seeking that which will draw me closer to Your mercy, and that which will make certain for me Your Forgiveness. O Allah, grant me protection against any sin, and a share of every virtue. Do not leave me a sin without forgiving it, a worry without relieving me of it, or a need that meets with Your pleasure without providing for it, O Most Merciful Lord.”
Turn to Allah and ask him for guidance and assistance. Sooner or later, you will get the sign from Him. One must accept the consequences and results given from the Almighty.
And Allaah (swt) knows best
