Ok peop, its a shame that I still havent bought a telescope although getting a good one here or Europe - good telescopes made in Germany i think is easy. and yesterday a supernova exploded, i havent even got the chance to do some stargazing here although most of the time the sky is clear at night. Where can i buy one? NO! i dont want to buy from ebay. I want to see it, touch it and test it before buying it.

Try this site :
Cloudynights (http://www.cloudynights.com)
They have telescope reviews and a forum. You should not consider buying a telescope until you visit that site!
Just remember, being an amateur astronomer risks being labelled a peeping tom or pervert, could get the cops banging on your door who will then put you on the sex offenders list.
I recommend buying from these:
Celestron UK (http://www.celestron.uk.com)
Orion Optics (http://www.orionoptics.co.uk)
Telescope House (http://www.telescopehouse.co.uk)

Lol, those sites are good. But I'll tell you one thing - in London it's hopeless, even with a telescope. The street lights blank out all but the brightest of stars.
ps: that supernova isn't visible, as far as I know, by a home telescope :)
If you are into star gazing, you'll love this program. It's free and amazing! Once set up it'll give you a virtual image of the sky from your exact location (provided you give it latitude/longitude) and the motion, in realtime of the celestial bodies so you can track them.

I’ve got one of these:
http://www.meade.com/etx/etx80.html
(To be honest I bought it for my wife as a birthday present.)
The beauty of this is that it has small stepper motors built in so it will automatically track and align itself to celestial objects. You can also control it from your laptop, so for example I can find mars on the celestial map on my laptop and the telescope will then automatically align to point itself at mars. Also handy in reverse, if you are looking at an object but not sure what it is you can reference it;s on board database to tell you.
Takes a bit of setting up but great fun.
Thanks

I just came across this...it looks really cool. You can paint it over if you're tired of it and it's good for at least 10 years.
