i am a young male and i have a high hairline. it is taking over my life recently, i cant even look at myself, i can't imagine what others may think of me. i am absolutely desperate to lose this and am prepared to have a hair line operating procedure. i've spoken to the doctor, and he gave me two options. one was hair transplant. transplanting hair extracts from another region of hair on my body to the front but this is not that effective and could lead to hair loss from the part of my body hair was extracted from. it is also very very expensive, around $15,000. i have looked into this and it is allowed in islam to treat hair loss.

the reason for that is a hair transplant is simply restoring something as it was before as opposed to adding something which i found is not allowed in islam in regards to cosmetic surgey.

but i don't have hair loss at the moment. it is just a high hairline. although i am bound to experience hair loss later in life as some male members of my family have. yet no one in my family has my genetic trait in this. i am so depressed it is affecting my entire life now. i cant leave my room. can it be argued that lowering the hairline to a 'natural' hairline would be halal, or is that going too far? what is 'natural' in all of this?

there isn't actually a proper cure for hair loss or residing hairline, its something natural that happens to people just like people have to grow old and there isn't a way of stopping it

i don't think you should let it bother you too much, it happens to a lot of guys its not something abnormal and anyone who might take a dig at you or make fun of you is just shallow so don't let it bother you because the people that actually care about you won't see you as any different

other than that you can always wear a turban or kufi :hidban: but with the intention of following the sunnah would be better

Just shave it all off. Then you have no hairline to worry about. :p

OK sorry if that's bad advice, but seriously, my cousin has severe dandruff issues so he just shaves all his hair and keeps it that way. Looks good.

if you get a really short crop, like grade two or three, your hairline won't notice so much.

though to be perfectly honest I think its highly likely the only one who has a problem with it is you. Everyone else either doesn't care or doesn't even notice probably. As for potential marriage partners a) a lot of women find this kind of thing attractive as its a sign of manliness and b) even if they don't, if they refuse to marry you on the basis of it then you've dodged a bullet as I'm sure you'd never want a wife so completely shallow.

Well, I'm 23 and I decided to shave it off. I've not lost or gained any friends.

Hair is not the be all and end all.
