For my last lesson everyones brining food in to eat, as like a mini celebration cos we're leaving. I said id bring the plastic cups, but the thing is theyre going to be drinking champagne. I didn't think of this until after i volunteered, but does that mean ill fall into sin because im aiding others to drink alcohol? There is going to be other drinks, but i think everyone will go for the champagne!
If so what shall i do? I thought i could ask my classmate to buy the pastic cups for me, saying that i dont think id get round to it, which is kind of true as i dont know when id have the time to go out and get them. And then give him the money for it, but with the intention the money is paying for the food he is buying and not the cups. If that makes sense?

Why didnt you offer to buy food instead??

Your not really aiding them because they will drink the champagne regardless and you dont know who is going to pick champagne over soft drinks do you.....!

Just make sure you leave the cups next to the soft drinks as your "intention" and what happens after that is not your concern.

Well the teacher was going round the class suggesting what we buy. She came to me last and by that time there was no need for food cos everyone had already offered to buy loads, so i thought ah we need cups. I didnt think of the alcohol thing at the time..and that effectively id be helping them drink. It didnt cross my mind until afterwards.

I did as i said above, my class mate is buying the cups and the money i give him is with the intention of paying for the food he buys and not the cups, enshaAllah. I know that in times of doubt its best to stay away from the doubtful thing. EnshaAllah i hope this is okay?

Should you even be attending an event where you know alcohol is to be served?
