wasalam sis,
just remember that this dunya is a test from Allah and we should not let such events cloud our judgement nor our faith...alhamdulillah just remember that it is you that will inshaAllah enter through the gates of jannah and that such people as he will be punished on the Day.
this may make you smile...
we don't have a prayer room at my college(some nonsense about it being a secular one?) so i have to go to the hospital near by...as i was walking back from prayer i noticed a guy coming towards me from afar i arried on walking and as we went past each other he mumbled "devil" and wallahi i thought i was hearing things and i looked back he had his head sunk between his shoulders so i knew he had indeed said it...
i found myself laughing all the way to my next lesson, subhanAllah i absolutely hate naive people but what can you do...

You didn't do anything. The man is eating away at his own insides because of his animosity and bigotry. Continue to stay strong for the sake of Allah :Swt: to earn his shade on yawm al qiyyamah. It's easier said than done but imagine that day when people will be drowning in their own perspiration. That man who spit at you will not only be going mad with the fear of his situation but he will also be severely thirsty and will not be able to gather saliva in his mouth. And if he dies in kufr that will be the least of his problems.

Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery);and when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; and when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers {Surah al Mutaffifeen (83), Ayaat# 29-34}

Dont worry about it sis, unless this smelly kuffar comes into the fold of Islaam, you will be the one laughing at him in jannah inshaAllah. In fact you could probably spit on him over there too..actually even better dont spit on him cos he would cherish your spit..
This is the situation in the akhirah, as Allah [aza wajal] says in Surah Araf: And the inmates of the fire will call out unto the inmates of paradise: "pour some water upon us, or some of the sustenance [of paradise] which God has provided for you!" [The inmates of paradise] will reply: "Verily, Allah has denied both to those who have denied the truth.
And if you went out in the night or summin try to avoid being out by yourself in the night or tell the brothers in the masjid or nearest to you to sort the guy out.

:salams,
hun, remember that ignorance is such a disease that blinds the kuffar in ways which make them act and live in vile circumstances. This disease breeds from within themselves and they begin to love the shaytaan and his ways, enjoining evil and hating the good. So when these "shaytaan infested" people witness something that they can't comprehend/understand i.e. the good , they tend to be/acting rebellious against it. I see this vicious anger that they feel - as an actual cry from their soul..the soul that had promised to obey Allah but couldn't coz of the environment they were brought up in - it is Allah's will, He indeed guides whom he wills and for those who are meant to be unguided they will live their pagan lives, being hurdles in our way to grow stronger in Eemaan..
..forget about these kind of things sis, they happen..just remember how blessed you are, being rightly guided and following the Haq rather than the falsehood that they're in - the very reason for their promised damnation in the hereafter..and the promise of success and paradise for you :insha:

Mashallah. Good point sisters should try their best to not travel alone. Inshallah others will be here in this thread to elaborate.
Muslims just need to not worry too much about what disbelievers think. Many will hate us perhaps some have bitter feelings because of past experiences with muslims.
But I can't make any excuses for the ones that lash out at sisters. Why don't the cowards try that when some brothers are around?
Inshallah no sister should feel offended or sad if they are harassed in hijab.

Have they not travelled in the land so that they should have hearts with which to understand, or ears with which to hear? For surely it is not the eyes that are blind, but blind are the hearts which are in the breasts. [Surah Al-Hajj, verse 46]
You are sad sis because your heart is a believing one, not hard like that mans, so despite his treatment of you, you care about him because of the shared humanity.
But still, don't get too upset, pray for his guidance and your own protection.
On a serious note you shouldnt take things like that to heart, i know i aint the serious type :o but... think of the hardships that the Prophet (s.a.w) had to endure, the famous Waqi'ah (incident) of when he passed through a village (Allah(Swt) forgive me for narrating it incorrectly) in a valley?.. between two mountains and they mocked and tortured Nabi (s.a.w) and because of all the torture their body was drenched in blood, and they were given the oppurtunity to just give an ISHAARAH for Allah(Swt) to finish them off by squashing them between the mountains (something along that) and how merciful was our nabi (s.a.w), they said if these people wont accept islam, at least theres a chance for their future offsprings to do so.
SubhanAllah, that incident (if someone can post it up in its correct form) is definetly worth pondering over.
May Allah(Swt) reward you for your patience and grant you tenfold in the hereafter.

Keep an eye out for him, perhaps some of the muslim community might have some communication with him ;)
At the end of the day - you've gotta toughen yourself against this idiotic behaviour. A similar incident happened to you before aswell innit? Something about a guy on a train commenting on the Quran whilst you were reading; if I remember correctly you burst out crying with a snotty nose and embarassing yourself then aswell, innit?

That would be leading to three assumptions:
That you know said spitter?
That he is human?
That he has a dog?

Awww honey bunny don't get upset. I get these smelly kufar being right dogs (pardon my bad language) to me all the time for no reason other then the fact that I'm muslim. You've just got to rise above it. The way I see it I'd rather be hated and despised by the kufar for being the faithful servant of Allah and be loved by my Creator for that very reason. I'd take all the spitting, beats and abuse the whole bloody lot of them can throw at me, if it means I'll earn the pleasure of Allah. The reason we were created was to worship our Lord, not to be loved by the creation. As long as Allah loves us then that's all the comfort we need. See it this way, if they hate you then you're following the right path, and may Allah make it easy for us and reward you abundantly for perservering :D

Sorry I just have to say I love all you guys (for the sake of Allah) reading your posts makes me crack up. SubhanAllah I was just thinking the only thing that's brought us all together (even though we're so different in our attitudes, mentalities and humour) is our love for Allah SWT. Alhamdulillah! Anyway *cough, cough* excuse my mushy outburst *embarrassed face*
wa alaykum salaam ukhti,
please dont be bothered by it... let it help you build your baraa' and have sabr inshAllah. comfort yourself with the words of Allah, because he's amongst those who hate His deen, and remember that Allah had blessed you with imaan and has saved you from everlasting torment.
“On the Day when those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allaah Islamic Monotheism) will be exposed to the Fire (it will be said): “You received your good things in the life of the world, and you took your pleasure therein. Now this Day you shall be recompensed with a torment of humiliation, because you were arrogant in the land without a right, and because you used to rebel against Allaah’s Command (disobey Allaah)”[al-Ahqaaf 46:20]
so don't let it bother you because in the larger picture - his hatred won't accomplish anything because he is destined for the hellfire, and you are muslimah destined for jannah inshAllah... and trials like this will just help you get there.
“Verily, I have rewarded them this Day for their patience; they are indeed the ones that are successful” [al-Mu’minoon 23:111]

And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. surah al imran- 85
And those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly, bear on themselves the crime of slander and plain sin.
O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (screen themselves completely ). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allâh is Ever Oft*Forgiving, Most Merciful.
If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease (evil desire for adultery, etc.), and those who spread false news among the people in Al*Madinah, cease not, We shall certainly let you overpower them, then they will not be able to stay in it as your neighbours but a little while.
Accursed, wherever found, they shall be seized and killed with a (terrible) slaughter.
That was the Way of Allâh in the case of those who passed away of old, and you will not find any change in the Way of Allâh.
People ask you concerning the Hour, say: "The knowledge of it is with Allâh only. What do you know? It may be that the Hour is near!"
Verily, Allâh has cursed the disbelievers, and has prepared for them a flaming Fire (Hell).
Wherein they will abide for ever, and they will find neither a Walî (a protector) nor a helper.
On the Day when their faces will be turned over in the Fire, they will say: "Oh, would that we had obeyed Allâh and obeyed the Messenger (Muhammad SAW)."
And they will say: "Our Lord! Verily, we obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us from the (Right) Way.
Our Lord! give them double torment and curse them with a mighty curse!"

Ya know what..analaysing the situation, we can derive the principle that maybe he didnt actually mean to spit at you. It is clear from the evidences provided that the man had a look of disgust, maybe he had actually just ordered a big mac and upon his tastebuds tasting the meat in the burger, his face screwed up into a face of disgust and he quickly went to spit out the remainder of the burger from his mouth so it look like he spat at you. So therefore, its mcdonalds fault and in turn the jews. So blame the jews.

isn't there some non muslims on this forum that can tell me why he would have done it...like i need to understand...
Ya know, RaNdOm, I'm a year-round biker, and I've been riding for ... well, since before you were born. A few times, some motorist has taken it into his head to try to run me off the road, once crossing four lanes of traffic to do so. Once, a guy ran into the building in front of me trying to take me out. My bike's got two disk brakes in front and one in the back. I can stop awfully quick.
There's no understanding it; some folks are just that mean. Born that way, or became that way because of being abused themselves. Of course, I like to tell myself it's because some other biker stole his girlfriend.
So don't let it get you down. I'm sure it had nothing to do with you personally. I really doubt it's because you stole his girlfriend.
As ever, Jesse

yep seriously the brothers rarely have problems like this, one sister was walking here and they came from behind and pulled off her khimar, i have been spat on, cracked in the head, called all the filthy names u can imagine but i know 100% if i was a man they wouldnt even try it. if theres a chance of more agression frm them, then i leave it and i dont flinch and i pretend i didnt hear them, and when i got cracked in the head by a guy on the bus i just pretended it was nothing, the sound it made meant even the kuffar woman down the front of the bus were looking at me horrified and asking are u ok i swear i had a headache for 2 days, but i didnt move i didnt flinch i didnt want him to get the satisfaction.
sometimes i do stand up to them, a bunch of guys sitting outside a cafe and one of them started calling out and making fun of my clothes and singing the batman theme and laughing  i stopped and gave him a full on clint eastwood style stare and it was enough.. and his mates were looking at him like hes an idiot and telling him to shut up and stop being a jerk alhamdulillah, same with a woman sitting with some men and she started swearing at me in portugese i just put down my shopping and said yea? come on then, and beckoned her to me her freinds looked ashamed and she was looking to them for support but she didnt get any she just made a total fool of herself and i went on my way.
but as i said just confims our deen to us alhamdulillah and lets us feel the meaning of the ayats of Allah ta ala, that what comes out of their mouths is nothing compared to the hatred they have in their hearts for us, and u brothers should all know this is why a woman shouldnt have to find herself out walking alone in these times, everyone has these bizzare ideas that its "safe" well its not, we women on the front line clearly visible as muslimahs, and a lot of the time we cant even recognise our brothers in islam as such... so if u have sisters and mothers or aunts then make sure u escort them to where they need to be, even if it means u have to leave an hour earlier for work, and your reward will be with Allah ta ala alhamdulillah.

If you are going to rationalise it in that way [talking like it makes complete sense to hate and disrespect Muslims for the reasons you described], then why are you not similarly rationalising why all these Muslims you've seen are saying things about the "dirty, smelly kuffar".. isn't that because of the fact some of the kuffar are killing Muslims all over the world, or where they cannot do that [i.e. the West] they are intolerant, discriminatory and often racist towards them.. isn't that why Muslims talk like and do the things you described above?
Justifying all this, from both sides.. only serves in helping perpetuate the cycle of hatred and mindless violence by making it seem like it makes complete sense to react in those ways.

You should realize that you can try to understand even what went through the Nazis' minds without being a Nazi.
As I said, hate and contempt breed hate and contempt. Of course it goes both ways.
It's childish to get bogged down in a discussion on the lines of - he started it...
The original poster asked : why do they hate us ?
I tried to give some directions of enquiry.
Is anyone grateful ?
Apparently, not.
Ok, then someone else try to explain it.
Perhaps, we kuffar (as has been explained many times on this forum, even by moderators) are simply tools of the Shaytan.
Wrong.
I explained what I imagine goes through the mind of a person who hates muslims.
you said It doesn't take a PH.D in social or religious sciences in order to understand why some nonmuslims hate muslims.
whether u realise it or not, that is justifying it, no one has the right to be that ignorant.
would u say the same if a muslim attacked and spat on ur average jew as he was walking down the street.. "well u can understand why people hate them look how they stole the homes and land of their brothers and sisters in palestine, and how they kill muslims there everyday .."
get a grip man.

lol i didnt insult u i said no one has the right to be that ignorant ( ie: those who think they can spit on muslim women just because they saw something on the news about "the mozlems" ) and so then of course we muslims can say well we have every right to feel that way when we see our brothers and sisters slaughtered in an injust and fake war, a war of propaganda that the masess feed into and support on a daily basis so no wonder we hate all non muslims  see it works both ways so like CW said ultimately statements like this are futile, because it just goes round and round in circles...

Since what you stated above is your true belief, then you have just backed Sheikh Osama bin Laden's justification for 9/11. In a very recent speech, along with others prior, he has stated these are retaliatory attacks based on the oppression and deaths of countless Muslims in Palestine and elsewhere in the middle east by Israel and other western countries. Since this seemingly endless cycle of violence is always started by westerners, then this is thread is about just another discriminatory, offensive attack on a Muslim Sister.
You must cause a lot of fitnah to have read so many posts about "dirty, smelly kuffar" because in the 6 or 7 weeks I have been on this site, I have only seen those adjectives used three times to describe the kuffar...always in individual kaffir posts. I will give you that there are decadent, hedonistic societies, and that the political systems are corrupt. Are you so blind you cannot see that, yet you come her and try and justify a man spitting at a woman??!!!
I am not going to steer this thread off track by debating you. Clearly you are a kaffir and will never see anything but hatred for Muslims. If you are so offended by what you read here, then leave.

However, it seems that some muslims are asking themselves why they are hated. I gave some answers.
Do I justify all this hatred and contempt ? no, of course. On neither side.

Al-'Ankabűt
In the Name of Allâh, the Most
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
Alif*Lâm*Mîm.
[These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings.]
Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested.
And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allâh will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allâh knows all that before putting them to test).
Or those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge!
Whoever hopes for the Meeting[] with Allâh, then Allâh's Term is surely coming. and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.
And whosoever strives, he strives only for himself. Verily, Allâh is free of all wants from the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns, and all that exists).
Those who believe [in the Oneness of Allâh (Monotheism) and in Messenger Muhammad SAW , and do not apostate because of the harm they receive from the polytheists], and do righteous good deeds, surely, We shall remit from them their evil deeds and shall reward them according to the best of that which they used to do.
And We have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents, but if they strive to make you join with Me (in worship) anything (as a partner) of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do.
And for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh and other items of Faith)[] and do righteous good deeds, surely, We shall make them enter in (the enterance of) the righteous (i.e. in Paradise).
Of mankind are some who say: "We believe in Allâh," but if they are made to suffer for the sake of Allâh, they consider the trial of mankind as Allâh's punishment, and if victory comes from your Lord, (the hypocrites) will say: "Verily! We were with you (helping you)." Is not Allâh Best Aware of what is in the breast of the 'Alamîn (mankind and jinns).
Verily, Allâh knows those who believe, and verily, He knows the hypocrites [i.e. Allâh will test the people with good and hard days to discriminate the good from the wicked (although Allâh knows all that before putting them to test)].

I was only using your own "logic" of events as to why the kuffar hate Muslims.
I guess it is easier to tell someone what to do, than actually do it yourself. :rolleyes:When I say that one should reason about events, I mean exactly that .
I have no problem in saying, e.g., that one should analyze 9/11, and reconstruct the mindset of the attackers (e.g. the role of the US troops' presence in Saudi Arabia in motivating the attackers can hardly be overlooked)
In the same way, if you analyze the Nazi takeover in Germany, you will recognize the role played by the unbalanced Versailles treaty and the feeling of injustice it caused in the German people...
And so on and so forth.
Trying to understand things is much better than repeating endlessly monotonous slogans. And, it doesn't make you a Nazi or an OBL supporter.
On the other hand, shouting (in a broad chorus) "muslim good, kuffar bad" must also have its satisfactions, or it would be difficult to understand why so many people do it.

True. But it was you who brought other events into this thread. Let's not try and put your own reasoning into the head of the "man" who committed this act.
Let's keep it in it's simplest terms: Woman walks down the street. Man hates woman based on her manner of dress. In his hatred for the woman he does not know, he attempts to spit on her. It boils down to nothing more than discriminatory hatred.

There are many daleels from qur'an & sunnah that categorically state that women must have mahrams, except for neccesity they have dispensation, search for it yourself, it depends on your take on neccesity and how much gheerah you have for your sisters/mothers. Oh and point to be noted I never stated it's haram, my point was had this particular sister been with a mahram, then it is quite safe to say she would not have been harassed in the manner she was.

u know the main topic of this thread has been my weakness... but that wasn't even what i was concerned about, like i know i'm not naturally someone that likes to hate, so it would get me upset more than angry just cos of my character... and it isn't even the crying thing, i cry at dumb things all the time... n then sumt serious happens and i have no tears... it's just the way i am...
but i just wanted to know WHY... but i guess u lot can't get into his head just like i can't... n some1 beginning with m (can't remember the name) tried to explain but would that be a big enough reason to spit on people...
i can't even stand when people just spit at the ground, cos i find it so disgusting, let alone a person...
i dno... it doesn't matter now, like everyone said i should just take it as a test and for me to learn sumt by inshaAllah...
but will i get upset n cry if someone does something like that again... the answer is most probably yes
i just find it mega upsetting that u want the best for these people, u want them to enter jannah that's why u give them the message, so that they can save themselves, it won't have the slightest affect on u where they end up, but because hell is so scary u don't want them to go there... and then they still find reason to hate...
like even if Allah chose not to guide them wouldn't they think sumt along the lines of... ok so i don't wanna be a muslim, but obviously these muslims call to us for a reason, maybe they do want me to go to heaven, which is kinda cool but i don't wanna believe but at least i'll respect em...
i dno..

وَالَّذِينَ جَـهَدُواْ فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

that must have been a really painful experience.
I tried to give some ideas about the reasons why there is hostility against muslims in some "Western" countries (a bit more here, a bit less there).
The basic reason is hostility against people who look and act "different". This can be anyone: muslims, gypsies, homosexuals, blacks....
But there are more specific reasons, which I won't repeat because I was already infracted for mentioning them. It's not easy to have a discussion under these conditions.
Anyway, best wishes

But you still cannot speak for why this "man" did this act. You don't know if the sister is black and he did it for that reason, or vice-versa.
Unless, YOU are the one who attacked my Sister, it is hard for you to know the true reason for why it was done.

i know i know u lot probably think i'm so weird, but i ain't used to people being mean or hatin or anything like that and if they are ever like that i have to try and understand why and make them understand they don't have to be like that...
like another time i was getting food with my mates and we were talking and like so we didn't notice the queue had moved on and then he started swearing and shouting, and then i couldn't understand why he was like that too... like there was about 2secs extra that he had to wait but he got so annoyed... and he looked like he wanted to kill us... and then i tried explaining to him like how it didn't even make a difference and that we all have to share this world together so when someone treats u like that it doesn't make people feel good... and then when we left he apologised i was like  :D:D:D:D:D alhamdulillah may Allah guide him to islam ameen
when stuff happens i just want to know the whys...

Salaam Alaikum,
Sorry that happened to you Sis, but alas he is an idiot, like has been already posted....one day he will have to answer for what he did
On one of my visits to Chicago,I was walking to the subway and I walked past this guy and his friend, they were whispering and looking at me then one of the dumb***es threw a lit cigarette in my hijab as I walked past. I didnt realize it at first but in a few steps I smelled something burning (it was me :o) I stopped and got the cig out then I flicked it back at them, gave them an obscene hand gesture and ran to the subway :D
I was ssooooooo po'd but not so much that idiot burned me, but more at the fact that he ruined one of my fav hijabs :torture:
I still have it too, I call it my "taking one for the team" scarf :o
