Assalamu Alaykum

I am really stressed about telling my boss for unpaid leave as I need to go back home for 6 weeks.

The company I work for is very small only couple of full time employees and I think my boss will really struggle if I leave for 6 weeks! I don't know how to tell her as I am really scared and she might be really cross that I want to go for that long! I still have 3 weeks of my holiday but I want to take 6 weeks unpaid leave so what do you brother's and sister's suggest?

How do I break the news to her and do you think am being unreasonable by wanting 6 weeks off?! By the way, I'm going to my brother's wedding and that's why I need that long as we need to go and arrange for the wedding.

Hope I get some replies ASAP inshallah.

Thanks!

Just go ahead and ask, worrying about your boss getting cross is silly!

I know it's silly but am really scared! she can be a bully sometimes!

Anyway, the worse that can happen is she might say no and in which case I will have to leave.

can she not get a temp in? You're taking unpaid leave so she doesn't have to pay you when you're not there, so she's still only paying one lot of wages. There are lots of employment agencies that can arrange temporary employment for companies. Maybe you could even reserach how much it costs to have a temp do your job for her and give her some quotes, save her having to do it - please note though if they charge a fair bit more than what you earn, its cause the temp agency takes a cut for themselves, whta the temp gets would be less than what you get I think.

tell her you're going for three weeks and then stay for longer but contact her after the 3 weeks with some "family emergency"

works with my cousins lol.

at the end of the day...you are owed three weeks off holiday...its not your problem whether or not they can find someone to cover for you

if you feel that an extra three weeks will be too much trouble for your company and a)you dont want to leave and b)dont want to have to spend the first few weeks when you return sorting out other peoples mistakes..then just go 'home' for 3 weeks

can you not email her or leave her a note when she is not around.and tehn she can speak to you about it and even if she does not u can say something on the lines of" did u by the way pick up the message i left 4 u................"may b in the first instance it wud help if u dont break teh news to her face to face.

it also cud depend how ling u have been working there for and also how many long periods of time you have taken off.if not that many and you have a good record with them may b it will be easier for you to request and earsier for them to grant too!

Give plenty of notice, say you have to be involved in planning the wedding.
