Assalam Alaykum. pls I need some advice. I am a mother of three. After my first birth I developed chest pain and became weaker until I had weaned my child. After the second I was weaker than the first. By the third birth I couldn't even sit up without losing my breath and having an irregular heatbeat. The Doctor said I had to wait till another three years b4 I cd have another child cos my children are so big that they had weakened me. The last was so big that he had pushed my diaphragm agaisnt my heart(or smthng like that.I hadnt used any form of birth control cos when i breastfeed I dont conceive bt i've been told that somtimes this doesnt work. I have prayed Istikhara and now I ask my fellow muslims for advice. should I go to the doctors for temporary birth control? Jazakumullah khairan.:lailah:

It's better if you ask an imam or sheikh near you. They are more qualified than us in my opinion.

The mother's health always trumps having more children. I don't think there is any scholar that says otherwise.

Do not get any surgeries, but temporary birth control is ok.

This is a more conservative fatwa, but it still states the same conclusion with some conditions.

from my understanding this is how it is:

contraception is 'generally' not allowed in Islam as it goes against the purpose of procreation etc etc.
However, contraception is permitted if the wifes life is in danger/health issues but there are many diff. attitudes and opinions towards this all backed up with proof of Hadith from prominent scholars

what i can advice is tht my judgement above is just a general overview so check with a scholar first or wait until someone can verify coz i am NOT qualified to give these decisions...

You need to consult a doctor, especially a good gynecologist as well as a cardiologist ASAP! Contraception are allowed in Islam.
