If all of the above fail, lock youself in the fridge.

Sis.. hot is hot.. Forty degrees is VERY HOT..but I feel hot when the temp is in the mid thirties cos I"ve grown up used to it being hot..
Mind you.. it's cold here.. freezing cold when it gets down below 10 degrees .. and I know that is still quite a mild day for you.. so really it's all all relative.. and i do feel for you all today
Try freezing bananas.. honestly they are very refreshing on a hot day ...just like a cross between an ice block and banana icecream.

During the day, I find smoothies quite refreshing. I'm a bit dairy intolerant so I make mine using soya milk (from the fridge), a banana and a handful of frozen blueberries. Fill up your ice trays with ice cubes cos' they'll come in handy to make your drinks cool- although on the other hand don't make the drinks TOO cold or you'll get a sore throat. Ice lollies are another idea. I also take a refreshing face spritz/spray when I leave the house on a really hot day- it does help. I also sometimes take a mini fan out with me which helps if I go to work and find that the room I'm using doesn't have a fan. I bought my mini fan from M&S for about £3. It looks small but it is more powerful than it looks. It also has its own stand when it is unfolded, so I don't have to hold it all the time.
I also find during the summer months, I have less of an appetite for normal hot meals and prefer to eat more salads and fresh fruits between meals. Most fruits and salads are in season during the spring and summer, so that's the best time to eat more of them as I think it's the body's own way of keeping cool as well as healthy.
Okay my tip for the girls is to wear a proper "KT" jilbab- it's the best opaque cotton I've found and it's quite cooling in the summer. Also wear a proper cotton scarf even the stiff cotton which doesn't flow very well doesn't look as flash as your usual synthetic pashminas, but they're definitely better to wear outdoors when it's hot.

Don't worry Astaeus, he's a Mirpuri- which means he prolly puts the henna on his beard to give it that orange glow:D:up:

I have a question. Is it permissable to leave the windows open when sleeping in the night? Maybe my brain is brainwashed by superstition, but do shaytaans come into your room if the windows are open when sleeping in the night?

My bedroom window is always open in the summer. I love listening to the creatures of the night. Owls, birds, insects etc :inlove:
The birds sound beautiful at Fajr time.
Anyway, to keep cool. Hmm.. The past few days have been good for me, I'd prefer it a little warmer though, I still get cold and put the heating on. :o

I'm sorry but I think it's a bit silly to assume Shaytaan will jump through your open window at night. No need to be afraid just pray.

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah, Allah's apostle (saw) said "When night falls (or it is evening), keep your children close to you for the devils spread out at that time. but when an hour of the night elapses, you can let them free. Close the doors and mention the Name of Allah, for satan does not open a closed door"
