i was wondering is halal to make du'ah for a husband with certain features. like for example is it halal to make du'ah for a darker skinned or lighter skinned husband. or for a fat or skinny husband or for a short or tall husband.

Im sure its permissable to ask for anything you want, but whether Allah will ordain it is something else all together.

I don't think you should be too specific for your du'a, when it comes to features. I think it would be better to just make du'a that you'll find someone who is beautiful on the inside and out. Allahu Alam though, I've heard stories of women/men asking for specific things, when it comes to features, and getting them.

It would be interesting that if a person desires something so much, such as a Tall, Dark, and Handsome man, yet they get a total opposite. Probably a test from Allah(swt)?

Make duaa for whatever you want (halaal things, of course) and keep it private between you and Your Lord. Allah SWT may not always grant certain things but may reward you with something better or maybe at another time. Remember, He alone knows what is best for you.
Though when making duaa for spouses, would be better to add the deen and personality required too inshAllah :)

lol Im sure it is not since this person is going to be your life partner,
but as someone said in this thread, Allah (SWT) may test you and you may get the total opposite,
but haha your post made me smirk dunno why :D
Is it possible to make a dua to find a wife that doesn't sit there praying for how light skinned/dark skinned/tall a potential husband must be? :D

Good point, if we were allowed to pick to the last detail, it would probably be never ending...:/

I think sis_niqabi wants a dark-skinned, fat, short husband. :outta:

u say that like theres something wrong with that...
anyway Allahu alam, i suppose u just dont know what package Allah ta ala will send ur husband or wife in and after all what will u do if u get married sis niqaabi, and audu billah just say ur poor spouse has some terrible accident that leave them deformed ... who is honestly going to divorce them because of the way they look now.
personally i wouldnt care if my husband had one arm or no legs or half his face burnt off, or no ears, after all its his personality that will dictate the way he treats me and loves me and not his looks. and sometimes like maybe when u meet freinds, and as u get to know them they seem so much more beautiful than when u first met them because of the way they are inside alhamdulillah. ( and visa versa too ) Allahu alam.

What an utterly shallow piece of twoodle, pray for "lighter skin" my backside.
Good grief of all the great things you could ask Allah you go for the most pathetic option.

steady up horsey, calm down calm done, breeath in, in again again, and once more....thats it....., now breath out.
You know what, if people want a certain type of husband and wife then who are we to deny them that god given right? Everybody is attracted to a certain type and if the sister would like to share her life with someone whom she considers attractive, and this is what constitutes as attractive to her, then why not? I hope you get your man sister :)

Nothing wrong with it at all. BUT, do remember to make a complete dua. What I mean is that instead of saying you want a tall husband, ask Allah to give you a husband who you will be attracted to and who will be best for you. Otherwise he might be tall and have a certain feature you don't like lol.

i know i might sound shallow, but im the type of person that cares much about looks. recently i had a proposal (after making du'ah for a husband) and let's just the say the brother wasn't easy on the eyes. i tried ignoring the looks, but every time i thought about the brother being my husband it grossed me out.
so i was just asking this question because perhaps i should be more specific in my du'ahs. because before i was just praying for a husband not asking for any type of physical features.

Well... if men have the right to ensure their potential future wives are beautiful, women should have the same right.
After all, physical attraction is a large part of marriage! You can't just ignore it.

Now that is funny, bravo!

you wanna ask allah s.w.t for husband, ask to grant you pious husband, looks don't mean nothing, your prayer get's accepted you marry brother with looks how long will them looks last 10,20 yrs, he'll probably be more concerned about his looks than his deen.

Sis, instead of asking for those specific details...why dont you just make dua that Allah grants u a husband that u are happy with...
May Allah grant u a pious and loving husband whom you are pleased with and vice versa :inlove:

There is indeed no point in being with someone you don't like in the first place. Sometime it get a little bit of time/while to get to like someone or appreciate him/her regardless of the look.
First impression should not be a determining factor
I also don't believe that it should take a while in order to marry a dude/dudette a la western. As little as week is theoretically enough . Islam have already laid down the rules and each partner is expected to accomplish certain roles.
That is a personal point of view

If you don't mind to pray for a fat (or skinny) short husband it might help.
All the other sisters are praying for a tall and Athletic husband so we might be short of tall guys Athletic guys :)
Just kidding sorry if I shocked you :embar:

I used to do that sometimes. I would ask for a tall, buff handsome Somalian brother with nice teeth, etc etc

Yep, nothing wrong with that, dont get why people have to come down on people for wanting a specific partner, yes other things are important so is physical attraction lets not forget that :)
