there seems to be no solid evidence for what you should do with your right index finger. different opinions are held by different madhabs, and then in albanis book the prophets prayer,he says none of the madhabs have a sound basis for what they say to do.
yes it seems it should be moved, but how and when exactly is my question.
i was always told to raise it during the shahada, but doing research i cant find any hadith to support this.
i need some evidence for what is right.

im finding it really hard to come to a solid conclusion backed up with clear evidence from the sunnah :(

is this hadith correct? does it exist? has it been translated into english correctly?

Rasing the Index Finger During Tashahhud
It is narrated that when Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) used to sit
down to supplicate, (to recite tashahhud) he used to place his right hand on
his right thigh and his left hand on his left thigh. He would indicate at the
time of reciting the shahadah by raising his index finger. He would also join
the ends of his thumb and middle finger (thereby forming a circle). [Sahih
Muslim, chapter on the description of sitting-Hadith no.579]
