View Full Version : You Vote-Islamic Idol 2008

AbuMubarak
27-04-08, 11:44 AM
We here at ummah.com have heard you loud and clear. Islamic Sharia aside, we will no longer stand as judges, nor will we judge by Quran and Sunnah. Its all about feelings, thoughts, wants, aspirations and desires.

If it feels good, lets go for it.

So today, we open up our poll to vote for the Islamic Idol 2008 (no, we are not going to use that archaic Islamic calendar, get real)

You vote and we will send our results to the lucky winner. And if he/she chooses you, you can spend three days and two nights at the Las Vegas nightclub of your choice (The land is not haram, and you dont HAVE to gamble)

OK, so lets open up the ballots and see who will be this years lucky winner of Islam's Idol

this is a serious poll, we want to know who the people want to represent islam, we are NOT judging their appearances, nor their beards, or lack thereof, nor their deeds, nothing

we are not using quran and sunnah, we are just going by eloquence in their words, and if anyone accepts islam from them, then thats all that counts

AbuMubarak
27-04-08, 12:03 PM
even if they applauded bush as he was waging war against the muslims,,,,,,,,,,so what, which if YOU are perfect???

my personal favorite is irshad..........i think she is so cute

oooopsss. My bad. I voted for COMPLETELY the wrong candidate. If you can change my vote to Ml Yusuf Estes. They are amazing in my opinion.

Some people I know who tend not to listen to religious scholars much because he finds a lot hypocritical actually enjoys listening to Ml Yusuf Estes. He has mashaALLAH a really beautiful approach, sincere and kind and genuine. For definite they get my vote!

So are you trying to say everyone on the list does not follow Quran and sunnah.. because then you are making clear slander.. and esp when it's about scholars like Shaykh Hamza who blatantly do follow the Quran and sunnah.. then you should fear Allah in regards to mocking other Muslims like thisand inviting others to mock them.

Amr Khaled, I haven't seen him but I do know that he does a LOT of good work, in Birmingham there is a Muslim anti-drugs charity that is run by him, and I know a sister who works there.. it does GOOD work and helps so many young Muslims and their families who are in desperate situations.. and educates young Muslims.. it's an amazing intiative and the kind of thing Muslims should be at the forefront of.. also he has some really good resources and articles on Islam on his website and yes based on Quran and sunnah.. so what I know of him is that he does a LOT of good work and has effected a LOT of Muslims in a massive way and brought them closer to Islam.

Native Deen.. you might not like them 'cuz they don't do duff only stuff, they use percussion.. which is ONE thing about them.. and not the whole picture, on the other hand they obviously do a lot of good work with the youth and bring imporant issues to the forefront of their minds and again have reached out to many people and I'm sure made them rethink their lifestyle and come closer to Islam.

You have NO RIGHT to mock these people, it's very cowardly low and juvenile and not something someone of your age or position on this forum should be doing.

Very disappointed :(

I'm not judging her 'cuz I don't need to, Allah will judge her and then she we'll see how far her "trouble with islam" really goes.. but she is openly a lesbian and does not hide that, she proclaims it loud and clear for all.. it's not an accusation it's a fact she declares via the media.

You blatantly implied it by saying Yusuf Estes follows quran and sunnah so lets take him off the list.. by saying and doing that you clearly imply that the others you left on the list don't and by including scholars like Shaykh Hamza, who is more qualified and learned that Yusuf Estes btw, on the same list with the likes of Salman Rushdie who is an open enemy to Islam and Irshad Manji who clearly has an unislamic agenda you are insulting these other people who do good work for Islam.

You should show them some respect.. and maybe follow their example.

When you have done what they have done and have the standing to be able to raise a finger at them, then maybe you'll be worth lending an ear to and you can speak to them direct.

And no I'm not in a bad mood or anything.. far from it, I'm just being candid with you because I can say that to you and you'll still be big bro, whereas half the people on this forum seem to be just stroking your ego most of the time.

You deserve a :torture:contrary to what sheikha chaineda says, i am not implying anyone is not muslim, or not anything

i took sheikh estes off the list because he is very serious about his islam and he does NOT have a cult following, like hamza yusuf has

nor am i judging who is smarter in islam (of course, we could use quran and sunnah, but lets not muddy the waters)

the only reason i had yusuf estes there was because his name started with yusuf, like a few of the others

we could battle all day long on hamza and the rest of them, but sheikh estes followers dont fall into the same crowd. no one debates the islam of sheikh estes

whether you agree or disagree with hamza is not the issue, the man is a person of controversy within the islamic world, thus, he earned a place on this list

AbuMubarak
27-04-08, 01:00 PM
standing in postitions of authority and notoriety are never encouraged in islam, contrary to what pop culture has taught you

because amr khaled or hamza have people who follow them, regardless of what quran and sunnah say does not make them correct or better than anyone else

because on the day of judgment, they will run from their followers, as our Prophet has taught us, and his companions avoided positions of notoriety

so you may think they are this top dog, all notoriety does is it feeds the ego, and puts you on the spotlight, and gives you much more to answer on the day of judgment

so whatever they have or have not done, i do not want to trade places, nor am i envious of their position, i know not what they have done or not done and their Lord will judge them accordingly to what Allah knows of them

the terms "Islamic idol" makes no sense whatsoever. An idol is something that idolators worship. How can you say islamic idol and then put up names for pple to vote as their idols??????? Frankly, I am very shocked by this. Asteghfurallah al adheem.:asta:not as shocked by some of the unsupported responses i read every day on this forum

people will say and do and believe and support the most unislamic people doing the most unislamic things

shocking, isnt it? welcome to the world we live in

"some people" ? only the people of biddah say that and who cares what they say.

I would take that back if i was you ... Or you'd be calling Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Hajar Haytami, Ibn Hajar Asqalani, Subki and others "people of biddah"

whereas half the people on this forum seem to be just stroking your ego most of the time

I hope Im not included in that half. In this instance I agree with and understand Abu Mubarak's point - hence my comments.

let it be known, i dont need anyone at ummah.com to stroke my ego, i have a large family, they do it well enough

so if you are stroking my ego, please stop, you are making chained jealous

lol.

I understand that you are trying to make a point, but you are unjustified in putting up names and asking Muslims to vote for their favorite "idol". That is just wrong.

aint that funny.................and because his name is there, abu mubarak is INSULTING SCHOLARS?

if you study the meaning of the term, tawghoot, you will see that muslims idolize many people, sadly

we dont care what quran and sunnah say, we care only what we feel, and if someone brings up quran and sunnah, YOU ARE JUDGING

shaved beards, befriending and applauding the kuffar, a host of other issues dont matter, its all how we feel

or better yet, if they have notoriety, then whatever they do is meaningless and you cant question them, because you are not as famous as they are..........where is this thought in islam?

You put "islam" and "idol" - two opposite words in one sentence???
Do u know in fact what does your question mean? I'll tell u - SHIRK
That's not the right words about it

He has been actually very clever in using that term. They are words that are natural enemies, islam and idol - yet some people have set up some of the creation as idols in challenge to the religion. They have diverted their attention from ALLAH to the creation and made these into idols which are unworthy of the obedience and excessive veneration that is showered on them.

muslims vote for kafirs, shirk
muslims support nationalism, shirk
muslims idolize famous speakers, shirk

so lets stop playing games, lets vote for an islamic idol, we like to mimic the kuffar in as many ways as possible, we dress like them, we talk like them, we adopt their ideologies, aspirations and goals

we even let them kill our brothers and sisters and we still pledge allegiance to them

so like i said, vote for your islamic idol, who cares how much he displays obedience to Allah and His Messenger, if we like him, thats all that matters

so basically if someone calls you names..then as a mod you give it bac right? and then at the same times, those who address you with full respect you manage to bring them down. well done just well done. if its no sweat then why get wound up so easily and tarnish everyone with the same brush? no need to be so abrupt and rude.

i dont try to post in your threads, the topics are way over my head, i dont make rude comments about the depth of knowledge contained in your threads, why do you feel the need to comment in this one?

Look people. Some might disagree with what Abu Mubarak is doing - thats fine. We dont have to agree with each other on every single thing. But just as perhaps according to some Abu Mubarak has indirectly or directly insulted people - some people have also replied with comments that really have done the same thing cept they targetted to Abu Mubarak.

If we wanna cuss AM for cussing others, then really we in the same boat. So doesnt really make sense to moi.

I agree the thread isnt really going anywhere - it had potential but thats been sapped with bickering. **roll eyes**

i dunno. i get confused between kabbani and haqqani. i aint a big follower so dont really know them - ie dont recognise them too easily.

btw I dont think there's anything wrong in kissing a persons feet so long as its done within limits. Sahaabah Karaam would kiss the hands and feet of Nabi :saw:

AbuMubarak

all of the people in this pole are "cult-like" figures, where their followers follow them, regardless of what is said in quran and sunnah

i could have added some of the salafi saudi sheikhs too, it doesnt matter the names, what matters is that muslims have to stop IDOLIZING people

if ANY scholar publically displays disobedience to Allah and His Messenger, then he is to be held accountable

whether those are saudi sheikhs teaching muslims to deify the saudi kingdom, or cali sheikhs kissing up to bush, or evangelistic sheikhs who show its ok to shave, or any other sheikh

we have no priesthood in islam, and as illustrated by the companions when taking baya to both umar, and abu bakr, if you go astray, we will hold you accountable

if there was any mockery, it was on the ummah, not the individuals
