Salaams..............
Has anyone put a new system in using the Newest AMD 9500 I believe?

Is so , what was the computing experience like?

Also, regarding the X2 series 6400, how does that perform?

I am still using my old intel 2.2 processor and I was thinking
of switching to AMD.
I can get a 6400 OEm for 130$$, The New 9500 quad is around 215.00

Do I really need the 9500? how does it compare to X2 6400 at 3.2 MegaH?

Switching from a single core 2.2 , what is the experience gonna be like?

I also noticed that the New ones are like 2.2. So how would they be better or faster?

Someone was also selling a Opetron "dirt Cheap" for 100.00 ( USD)
Isnt that for servers? even otherwise why would I wanna buy it even if its so cheap if the speed is only around 2.2 or 2.2?

So if I change the MoBo and the processor, do i need to reinstall the OS again???

which intel are you looking to upgrade from? Clock speed is not everything, there is a significant difference in a 2 ghz processor today versus earlier 2ghz procs.

As for whether you need it, it depends on what you need to do with it. One thing you might try is to track your CPU usage over time. If you are consistently pushing your CPU to the limit, then maybe a faster one would be useful for you.

Mace, I have never actually overclocked. Iuse my desktop for work and I have to use multiple apps. The intel is 2.2 and even though I have 2 gigs of sdram, I am forced to shut down some apps so I figured I should get the AMD X2.
It sucks that i would have to reload the OS. So there is no way to do without having to re install xp if I am changing the mobo/cpu?????

What processor exactly do you have now? Which Intel model?

Why are you forced to shut down apps? Is it because of CPU load or is it memory? When I said pushing it to the limit, I didn't mean by overclocking. I meant is your usage really pushing your CPU consistently.

I actually don't know if Windows needs to be re-installed.

Also, are you going with AMD because you are boycotting Intel (just curious why AMD)?
