i think there are rules about images as avatars.... not sure exactly what they are but i think children are allowed, and obviously women without hijab are not allowed. i think thats right.

well, i dunno.

Sometimes people put someone who is dead.

Sometimes is like a personal photoshoot so a bit like in your face...showing off type of thing.

Sometimes its like an anime character... or some other handpicked from the not-so-good stuff that we get up to...

The problem is that we need to sort out our belief and certainty in Allah swt and His always being aware of our actions, we need to sort out our prayers, our intentions, our aim in life, our awareness of the day of judgement....first...before we can accept verdicts on stuff like this. Until then, we always go with whatever we think which is usually a direct product of our environment. Which is often full of movies, cartoons and music...unfortunately. Perhaps if it was Islamic Talks, Stories of the Prophets, and the Qur'an the story would be different.

The other risk is making something halal to be haraam for ourselves. But we should stay away from that which is doubtful, without necessarily calling it haraam or considering it haraam, that is safer, right?

Allahu Alim.

ps. your on your way to being a pro-pollmaker...mashaAllah. thats valuable i thinks, getting the opinions of the Ummah. The limitation is the non-presence of knowledgeable people in some instances. But its a good idea overall in my view.. which needn't count.

:salams

Aisha (RA) narrates: The Messenger of Allah :saw: returned from a journey and I had screend (the entrance) with a certain on which there were pictures. He (:saw:) rippedit off and said: "The severest punished people on the Day of Qiyaamah will be those who imitate Allah's aspects of creation"

"Verily, the owners of these pictures will be punished and it will be said to them:"Give life to that which you tried to create!""

Imaam Nawawi (rahmetullahi aleih) states that Imaam Zuhra (rahmetullahi aleih) said: It's not permissable to use an object with pictures on it nor is it permissable to enter a house wherein there are pictures.
