The makers of acclaimed documentary “The Muslim Jesus” are looking for Muslims to take part in a new ITV1 series about religion and marriage. Must be UK based.

A Match Made in Heaven will explore the world of religious and cultural introduction agencies by following a group of male and female characters of differing ages and backgrounds in their search for a marriage partner. The intention is to use the premise and format of the series as a means of exploring wider lifestyle issues affecting Christians, Jews and Muslims in the UK and to find out why it is important for so many people to marry within their religion.

A Match Made in Heaven is looking for Muslim people who have used the internet, or are interested in using a religious match-making site, in their search for a marriage partner. Applicants can be of any level of religious/cultural observance but must be outgoing, relaxed around TV cameras and willing to talk openly about their faith and how it impacts on their lifestyle. They must also be willing to be filmed not only as they search for a partner, but also in sequences documenting their work or social life which would help to establish their character on screen. Filming will take place between mid April and the end of May.

A Match Made in Heaven is particularly interested in talking to reverts and outgoing practicing sisters, who would be willing to share their experiences. Ideally you will see yourself as British but have a strong sense of yourself as a Muslim and be able to talk about your faith in an engaging way. We would also love to hear from couples who are planning their wedding, having met on the internet, along with anyone else who is interested in the programme – so please tell your friends and family!

The series is being made by ITV’s Specialist Factual and Arts department, the BAFTA and Emmy-winning team responsible for The South Bank Show, edited and presented by Melvyn Bragg and now in its 30th season. We are a sensitive team of film-makers and the series is shaping up to be an intelligent, positive look at faith and relationships in Britain today.
