I Am the Elephant Man: A Bodyshock Special Following 31-year-old neurofibromatosis sufferer Huang Chuncai as he prepares to undergo high-risk surgery on the 20kg tumours that threaten his life. Confined to his rural Chinese village since childhood by the growths that now make up half his weight, Huang has resolved to take action before it's too late

I was hoping theyd do the whole operation...they removed 5kg of it, but didnt do the left side. The chinese surgeons seemed a bit botch job to me, just seemed well unorganised.

I'm guilty of this, poor man, does anyone know what the outcome was? Is his life better/easier after the operation?

he didn't/ couldn't work at all...

it was physically not possible, also even when he went to school people used to tease him so he left :(:(

basically he was hoping that if the operation was a success he could atleast get some sort of a job to support his mum and dad

his mum was forever crying subhanAllah may Allah swt give them sabr... she was always sad... and his dad said 'since he got the tumor i've been sad every day'

lol surgeons offered to do it for free, after word spread of his condition:up:

but, and i think someone said it already the surgeons looked and sounded soo unprofessional like they didn't know what they were doing

doctors were saying ' is that the vein?' 'what are we doing, how are we doing this'? ' is that the tumor?'

it's like  aren't you surgeons?

Allah hu a3lam they only showed the surgery

cause although they removed most of the tumor he was gonna need a series of follow up plastic surgery... inshAllah it went all well and he is better now inshAllah

I was hoping theyd do the whole operation...they removed 5kg of it, but didnt do the left side. The chinese surgeons seemed a bit botch job to me, just seemed well unorganised.

Actually it's not that unusual to leave part of the tumour behind because it had so many veins and vessels attached to his brain that removing the rest of it would've been too risky and would've led to either dying from too much blood loss or cutting the blood supply to his eye/ear/part of his brain which would've made him even more disabled than he already was. They agreed that he would need further surgery at a later date to remove what was left and Huang also said that he felt better since the surgery so removing the 5kg tumour did help.

nah i know that, but am talking from the show point of view, i seen similar shows and they will wait for those months till next op, so we see start to finish...its just nicer innit, everyone loves a happy ending.
